The Gorons in Goron City have become obsessed with Marbled Rock Roast, and Yunobo is missing from the city. Follow the trail to YunoboCo HQ, break the mask controlling him, and join him on the climb up Death Mountain. The trail leads into the Depths and the Fire Temple.
Have a Flamebreaker armor piece or a fireproof elixir ready before entering the cave at YunoboCo HQ. One level of Flame Guard protects Link from the heat in the quest areas. You can buy the Flamebreaker Armor in Goron City for 700 Rupees, or from the shop by the HQ cave entrance. Bring Brightbloom Seeds for the Depths and a few strong weapons for the temple boss.
Walkthrough
1. Speak with Bludo in Goron City
The quest begins as part of Regional Phenomena. Travel to Goron City in Eldin and speak with Bludo, the village elder, near the large pile of Marbled Rock Roast. He tells Link to look for Yunobo at YunoboCo HQ, north of the city.

Activate Marakuguc Shrine near the city if you have not already. It is a convenient return point.
2. Travel to YunoboCo HQ
Leave Goron City through the northeast exit. The minecart tracks lead toward YunoboCo HQ. If you have the side quest The Ancient City of Gorondia!, speak to the Goron by the tracks and use the cart route. Attach a Fan to a minecart with Ultrahand, place it on the left rail, then ride it to the headquarters. You can also follow the road on foot.
At the cave entrance, speak with Offrak and Slergo. Choose the first dialogue option and they let Link inside. The cave is too hot to enter without Flame Guard, so equip a Flamebreaker piece or use a fireproof elixir before going in.

3. Break Yunobo’s mask
Yunobo is waiting inside the cave, wearing a mask that has taken control of him. His rolling attack is easy to avoid if you keep moving.

When he curls into a ball and charges, dodge to the side so he crashes into a wall. He will be stunned. Run in and strike the mask. Repeat this three times to break it and bring Yunobo back to his senses.

Yunobo then joins Link and gains a charge attack. Aim him at the red boulders blocking the way out of the cave. Two well-aimed charges clear the passage.

4. Ride the tracks to Death Mountain
Outside, follow the quest marker toward Death Mountain. Use the minecart tracks on the west side of the mountain to make the climb easier. Attach a Fan to a cart, ride uphill, and use Yunobo’s charge to break red rocks or hit enemies in the way.

At track junctions, use the green switch targets to change the cart’s route. If you reach a dead end, look for another track nearby or use Ultrahand to move the cart onto the correct rail. You can also climb sections of the mountain if the cart route is unclear.

Sitsum Shrine is near the upper tracks. Activate it before continuing. At the summit, speak with Yunobo to trigger the encounter with Moragia.

5. Defeat Moragia
Moragia rises from the crater with three heads. A Fanplane is set up nearby. Use Ultrahand to position it at the edge, climb aboard, and activate its fans. Take hold of the control stick in the middle; if Yunobo is standing next to you, roll him away first, since both actions share the same button. Crashing into the volcano or falling off means redoing the fight.

Steer the Fanplane toward each head and command Yunobo to charge into it. One hit per head is enough. Keep the vehicle level as you line up each pass. If you get turned around, circle back and make another approach rather than trying to hit a head from too far away.

After all three heads are struck, Moragia is defeated. Speak with Yunobo, then jump into the crater.

6. Reach the Fire Temple through the Depths
Guide Link down through the crater and steer toward the dark ground below, avoiding the lava. Land near Mustis Lightroot and activate it to illuminate the area and create a fast-travel point. Speak with Yunobo beside the Lightroot.

Follow the new marker west toward the Fire Temple. Use Brightbloom Seeds to light the route and watch for gloom on the ground, which temporarily reduces your maximum hearts. Lightroots or Sundelion dishes restore them. If a red boulder blocks the way, aim Yunobo at it to clear the passage. When you reach the temple, send Yunobo into the red rock sealing the entrance.

Inside, examine the green pedestal beside the locked gate. The five gongs are spread across different floors, and the temple map marks their locations. Use minecarts and track switches to travel between levels. Yunobo’s charge can break red rock, hit the track switches, and ring each gong.

Bring non-wooden weapons and shields: wooden gear catches fire in the temple’s heat.
7. Ring the five gongs
The gongs can be activated in any order. The route below follows the numbered locks shown on the map.
Gong 1: South side of the first floor
Head south from the entrance and cross the lava using the floating rocks. Use a Hydrant to make more rock platforms if needed. Ride the minecart and use Yunobo on the green track switch to take the correct branch.

When the cart stops, leave it and follow the path to a red boulder. Use the brown sloped rock nearby as a ramp, then send Yunobo into the boulder. Cross the opening and hit the first gong with Yunobo.

Gong 2: Lower level beyond the rail forks
Return to the carts and continue along the tracks. Use Yunobo or an arrow to activate the green switches at the junctions. At the next lava pool, use the Hydrant to form a floating rock, then stand on it and use Recall to ride it across.

Defeat or avoid the Construct on the far side and ring the second gong.

Gong 3: Upper floor over the broken rail
Use the green bell switch to raise the track, then ride a cart to the upper level.

Place a Rocket at the front of a minecart and point it along the broken track. Activate it to cross the gap. Continue past the enemies and climb the wall to the top platform. The third gong is on the upper level. Use Yunobo’s charge to ring it.

Gong 4: North side above the lava
Return to the central cart area and adjust the green switches so the right-hand track points toward the northern platform. Ride up to the fourth-floor area.

The gong is across lava on a raised rock. You can aim Yunobo at the sloped brown rock so his charge arcs up to it. If you can safely glide and climb across, Yunobo can also hit the gong from the side.

Gong 5: Inside the northwest tower
Glide to the northwest platform on the third floor. Climb the outside of the tower and look for a ledge where the Ascend indicator turns green. Use Ascend to reach the upper section, then drop through the opening in the center of the tower.

The last gong is at the bottom. Ring it with Yunobo, then use the nearby orange crystal to open the exit and return to the main floor.

8. Defeat Marbled Gohma
Return to the central gate and examine the green pedestal. In the room beyond, aim Yunobo at the curved wall so his charge rolls up and strikes the red rock on the ceiling. This starts the fight with Marbled Gohma.

First phase
Aim Yunobo at one of Gohma’s legs. It takes two hits to break a leg and knock the boss down. Climb onto its body and attack the eye with your strongest weapon. Jump off when Gohma starts to shake Link loose.

Repeat this until the first phase ends. Use a strong fused weapon if you have one, since the eye is only exposed for a short time.

Second phase
Gohma climbs onto the ceiling. Use the curved walls to send Yunobo up into its legs or body. When it falls, run in and attack the eye again.

Gohma also drops explosive rocks around the arena. Keep moving away from them before they burst. If it starts circling quickly, wait for a clearer angle and use Yunobo’s charge when the boss passes in front of a wall.
9. Return to Goron City
After the fight, collect the Heart Container and speak with Yunobo. A cutscene returns Link to Goron City, where the Gorons are free of the Marbled Rock Roast’s influence.

Yunobo receives the Secret Stone and becomes the Sage of Fire. Link gains the Vow of Yunobo, which lets him summon Yunobo’s avatar to charge through enemies and break obstacles.
Chests in the Fire Temple
- Entrance: a chest to the right of the entrance, with 10 arrows.
- South of the first minecart switch: a chest guarded by a Fire Lizalfos, containing a Zonaite Shield (Strong or Mighty, depending on your progress).
- Northwest tower, one floor above the last gong: a chest with a Soldier-class weapon that helps against the boss.
Rewards
- Heart Container
- Vow of Yunobo (Yunobo’s avatar charges through enemies and obstacles), given when you are returned to Goron City
