Bottle #1: The Kakariko Village Merchant
Location: Kakariko Village (Light World)
How to Get: As soon as you reach Kakariko Village, look for a merchant sitting on a blanket near the center of town. He’s selling various goods, including a Magic Bottle.
Requirement: 100 Rupees. Save up your rupees from exploring and defeating enemies to purchase this essential item early on.
Bottle #2: The Tavern’s Secret Passage
Location: Kakariko Village (Light World)
How to Get: Enter the main tavern/bar in Kakariko Village (the building with the sign above the door). Instead of going through the front, walk around to the back of the building and enter through the rear door. Inside this short, secret passage, you’ll find a treasure chest containing the bottle.
Requirement: None, besides reaching Kakariko Village. This bottle is easily accessible very early in the game.
Bottle #3: The Bridge Dweller
Location: Under the Bridge East of Link’s House (Light World)
How to Get: Locate the large bridge directly east of Link’s house (and south of the Eastern Palace area). You’ll need the ability to swim to get this bottle. Once you have the Zora’s Flippers, swim into the water and go under the bridge. You’ll find a person camping there who seems to be down on their luck. Talk to them, and they will give you a Magic Bottle for free!
Requirement: Zora’s Flippers (obtained from King Zora after paying his fee).
Bottle #4: The Chest Transport Quest
Location: Starts in the Dark World, finishes in the Light World.
How to Get: This one requires traveling between worlds.
- Travel to the Dark World. Go to the location that mirrors the Blacksmith’s shop in the Light World (it’s near the Village of Outcasts). Inside the building there, you’ll find a locked treasure chest.
- Stand near the chest and use the Magic Mirror to return to the Light World. The chest will travel with you!
- Do not try to open the chest yourself. Carry the chest south towards the entrance of the Desert of Mystery. You’ll find a man sitting near a signpost (he looks somewhat like the flute boy’s father or the Kakariko merchant).
- Speak to this man while the chest is with you. He’s apparently trying to keep a low profile but agrees to open the chest for you. Inside, you’ll find the final Magic Bottle.
Requirement: Access to the Dark World (defeating Agahnim in Hyrule Castle) and the Magic Mirror. You also need to be able to reach the Desert of Mystery entrance in the Light World.
Why Collect Them All?
Having all four bottles gives you maximum flexibility. You can carry multiple health potions for tough dungeons, keep a fairy on hand for emergencies, and still have room for other useful items like Good Bees or captured magical flames. Collecting these bottles is a rewarding side quest that significantly boosts your survivability in Hyrule and the Dark World!
