The company reiterated its plans in its latest financial results materials, saying it wants to give longtime fans and newcomers different ways to enjoy the series. The statement sets out the broad direction of the celebration, but does not announce another Zelda game or reveal a new project.
“Over the course of this year and next, we will pursue a variety of initiatives to celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda. In addition to games, we will expand opportunities for consumers to experience its world through the movie, music, character merchandise, and more.
“We will make the series even more appealing by offering different ways to enjoy it, both for those who cherish its earlier titles and for those discovering it for the first time.”
The timing follows the November 5 release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo first presented the remake and its anniversary plans during a Zelda-focused Direct in September. That presentation also revealed a special-edition Switch 2 and accessories, a worldwide concert series, and additional products and activities planned with Nintendo’s partners.
The celebration extends beyond games
Nintendo’s anniversary plans include the live-action The Legend of Zelda movie, which is scheduled to open in theaters worldwide on April 30, 2027. Concerts are also planned across several regions, beginning in Japan in January, followed by North America in February, Europe in April and Australia in May.

Other announced projects include a LEGO Ocarina of Time Link & Epona set and an electronic Master Sword from Hasbro, both expected in spring 2027. Nintendo has also outlined anniversary activities at the Nintendo Museum in Kyoto, including a special ticket design and a limited-time photo spot.
Nintendo has not said what additional initiatives may be coming. Its latest statement keeps the door open for more anniversary activity through 2027, while leaving any unannounced games or products unconfirmed.
