Walmart’s customer service email reportedly says the cancellations were made in error. For customers who received the reservation offer, an item called “Exclusive Reservation” was added to their Walmart cart. They have 48 hours, according to the email, to complete checkout. The reservation is limited to one console per customer.
Check the email account linked to your original pre-order and the cart on the Walmart account you used. The offer appears to be tied to eligible customers, so it may not show up for everyone whose order was canceled.
Walmart has also reportedly sent some affected customers a $519 eGift card as an apology. The offers may differ: deal tracker Wario64 said customers appeared to be receiving either the reorder offer or the gift card, though a few had reportedly received both. Walmart’s emails, as shared publicly, don’t establish that every affected customer will receive either offer.
The console’s listed U.S. MSRP is $519.99. The reported gift card amount is $519, so it may not cover the full price after tax. Walmart canceled some pre-orders shortly before the console’s October 29 release, leaving customers scrambling to find another way to get the limited edition system.
