A child in Suthorn Village has heard all about snow from Link but has never seen any, and Hebra Mountain is much too far for them to go. You can’t carry real snow south, but you can bring an echo of it: summon a giant Snowball next to the child and the quest is done. It’s a short, sweet errand that pays a stack of Floral Nectar, and it’s worth doing the next time you warp through Suthorn after your trip up Hebra Mountain.
How to Start
Go to the middle of Suthorn Village, where the old stone well stands beside a round trampoline in front of the shop. A small brown-haired child in green waits next to the trampoline with a “Wish I could see some…” bubble overhead. Talk to them and they’ll tell you snow is “Chilly, fluffy…and totally white!” and that they learned that from Link. Link also taught them that Hebra Mountain is covered in snow, “‘Cause it’s super cold in northern Hyrule.” The child can’t picture white, fluffy and cold “all in ONE thing” and wants to see it for themselves, but they can’t go all the way to Hebra Mountain until they’re grown up: “Guess I’ll hafta wait…foreeever.” The banner Side Quest: What Is Snow…Really? appears.

Walkthrough
Step 1: Summon a Snowball beside the child
Open your echo list and select Snowball (the plain white ball icon). Its notebook entry describes a large ball of snow that rolls quickly downhill and is surprisingly fragile, so place it on the flat grass right next to the child. A giant snowball appears in the square beside them. If you don’t have the echo yet, you’ll find it on Hebra Mountain: it’s learned in the ice cave, in the icy corridor past the ice-block and pit rooms, where giant snowballs come rolling at you.

Step 2: Let the child play in the snow
The child runs over to the snowball: “Whoa! Is this snow?” then “That’s AMAZING!” and “Thanks for bringing it, miss!” They ask “OK if I touch it?”, and over a short dark scene you hear them squeal “Eeeeee! So cold!”, discover it’s fluffy and crunchy but turns solid when packed in a hand (“Weeeird!”), and get a mouthful by accident. When the scene returns they have to stop because their hands are freezing, but declare “Yeah! That was FUN!” There’s nothing more for you to do; just keep pressing through the dialogue.

Reward
The child says “Hold out your hand, miss!” and Zelda holds up the jar: “You got 8 jars of floral nectar!” Floral Nectar restores hearts when used, and it’s also an ingredient you can blend at a smoothie stand or sell at a shop. The child explains “Mom says I gotta thank anyone who helps me with things”, and finishes with “Now that…was the best. I hope it snows in Suthorn Village someday.” The Side Quest Complete banner for What Is Snow…Really? follows.

Tips
- Pick up the Snowball echo while you’re climbing Hebra Mountain for the story; it’s on the main route through the ice cave, so there’s no detour.
- The trampoline next to the child is the same Trampoline echo you can learn in Suthorn Village on your very first visit, so it’s an easy landmark to spot.
- Giant snowballs on Hebra Mountain are also the key to Snowball Magic, a late-game quest for Condé that rewards a Piece of Heart.
