Ocarina of Time Remake Shows Off Castle Town and Gerudo Fortress

Nintendo is giving Zelda fans a closer look at two familiar stops on Link’s journey. New clips from the Ocarina of Time remake show Hyrule Castle Town and Gerudo Fortress, offering another chance to see how the Nintendo 64 adventure’s locations are being rebuilt for Switch 2.

The official Japanese Zelda account shared the Castle Town video on September 30, followed by Gerudo Fortress on October 1. Both are short tours, with the focus on exploration rather than combat.

Another Walk Through Hyrule Castle Town

The Castle Town clip returns to the fountain square seen during September’s Zelda presentation before following Link through an alley. It isn’t our first look at the town, but the quieter footage gives the setting some room to breathe.

For anyone who spent the original game running between the Market’s shops and minigames, this is a particularly interesting part of the remake. On Nintendo 64, the Market used pre-rendered backgrounds and fixed camera views. You could explore it, but the game chose your view of the surrounding buildings.

Nintendo’s remake includes modern camera controls, making Castle Town a location worth revisiting even for players who know every shop entrance by heart.

There’s plenty of history packed into those streets. This is where young Link meets Malon, visits the Happy Mask Shop, and inevitably loses a few Rupees trying to win a prize at Bombchu Bowling. Later, returning as an adult turns that cheerful introduction to Hyrule’s capital into one of the game’s bleakest scenes. How Nintendo handles that contrast will be worth watching.

The next video heads west to Gerudo Fortress. Adult Link walks through the settlement carrying the Master Sword and Hylian Shield, giving us a brief look at the Gerudo’s home in the remake. Nintendo’s accompanying description identifies it as the fortress where the Gerudo live, built in a vast desert.

In the original adventure, arriving here meant sneaking past guards and rescuing the imprisoned carpenters before earning the Gerudo Membership Card. Getting caught could send Link straight back to his cell. Once he gained the Gerudo’s trust, the fortress became the gateway to the Haunted Wasteland and the journey toward the Spirit Temple.

The new clip concentrates on the location itself. We’ll still have to see more to know how the remake handles that rescue sequence, the guards, and the fortress’s optional challenges.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time launches on November 5, 2026, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo has confirmed overhauled visuals, voiced cutscenes, expanded dialogue, orchestral music, and updated movement that lets Link jump and dash.
