The Legend of Zelda: Dungeons of Infinity
A Link to the Past-inspired roguelike with randomly generated dungeons, powerful loot, and permadeath.
About This Game
The Legend of Zelda: Dungeons of Infinity takes the familiar combat and dungeon exploration of A Link to the Past and turns it into a roguelike adventure where no two playthroughs are quite the same.
Created by independent developer Justin Bohemier, this standalone fan game sends Link deep into a series of randomly generated dungeons in pursuit of the evil wizard Agahnim. Each new attempt rearranges the dungeon layouts, enemy encounters, and available treasures, forcing players to adapt rather than memorize a familiar route.
Link begins with a basic sword, but stronger weapons and equipment are waiting to be discovered. Bows, shields, magical staffs, armor, and enchanted accessories can all make the difference between surviving another floor and starting over. Finding the right combination of equipment becomes increasingly important as the enemies grow more dangerous.
Death comes with a serious penalty. Lose all your hearts, and the adventure starts again from the beginning. The game does allow players to save their progress at certain points, but those saves are intended for resuming a run, not escaping the consequences of defeat.
Developed over more than four years using GameMaker Studio, Dungeons of Infinity recreates much of the visual style and feel of the Super Nintendo classic while introducing its own systems and challenges. Keyboard and controller support are included, with customizable controls for both.
For Zelda fans who enjoy dungeon crawling, hunting for better equipment, and testing their skills against unpredictable challenges, Dungeons of Infinity offers a fresh reason to return to the world of A Link to the Past.
The game is available as a free Windows download and does not require an emulator or an original SNES ROM. This is an unofficial fan project and is not affiliated with Nintendo.
