Forest Octorok

The Forest Octorok is a land-dwelling Octorok that disguises itself as grass and shrubbery among the trees and fires rocks at passers-by. It has only 8 health, so one solid hit ends the fight. The real danger is its rock, not the creature, so wait for it to inhale, deflect or sidestep the shot, then close in.

Where to find it

Look for it in the wooded parts of Hyrule Ridge and Deep Akkala, where it sits among trees posing as ordinary plants. It stays hidden until you come near, so a patch of grass or a bush that looks slightly out of place deserves a second look before you walk past.

How to beat it

Spot it before it pops up

Watch for the disguise. Once you step inside its range it rises out of cover and turns toward you.

Deflect the shot

It inhales and then fires. Raise your shield as the shot arrives to parry it back, or strafe to one side. Keep moving so the shot does not land at your feet.

Finish it

Run in and hit it, or fire an arrow from range. With 8 health almost any weapon kills it in one hit. If it ducks back underground, approach again and it will resurface.
