Kaam Ya’tak Shrine (Trial of Power)

Kaam Ya’tak is a combat-heavy test: each door is opened by rolling a boulder into it, with Guardians and spiked rollers in between. Magnesis, Stasis, fire, bombs and a hammer all play a part, and five chests are scattered along the way.

How to find it

The shrine lies in the hills south of Central Hyrule Tower, just south of Mount Daphnes. It is an exposed area, so expect Guardians on the approach.

Solution

First door

A boulder hangs by a chain. Use Magnesis on the anchor point above it to swing the boulder far to the right, then release so it swings into the shut doors and opens them.

Guardians and the wooden shelf

Spiked balls roll across the corridor beyond; freeze them with Stasis to pass. Guardians patrol here, so use arrows on the eye or parry the beam with a shield. At the left end of the hall a boulder rests on a wooden shelf: knock down the lantern above it with a thrown weapon or blow up the shelf with a bomb. The boulder rolls down and opens the next door. The chest beside the shelf contains the Edge of Duality.

Hammer and rolling boulder

Continue down the hall to another chest, then go down the stairs near the small gate. Use Stasis on the stone bridge, which tilts under your weight. Beyond it, activate the motion apparatus and swing the hammer into the small boulder on rails, knocking the large boulder through crates and down the ramp into the doors. A chest stands to the left of those doors.

Burn the shelf and launch the boulder

Upstairs, a boulder sits on a wooden shelf across a gap and a tilting stone bridge is on your side. Burn the shelf with a fire arrow or lit torch. Use the switch to raise a ramp, then freeze the bridge with Stasis just before the boulder lands and strike it so it clears the gap and rolls into the double doors.

Battering ram and final launch

In the next room, bomb the cracked rocks in the corner for a chest with a Silver Rupee before stepping on the switch. Then use Stasis on the battering ram and hit it with a hammer; it runs on rails, so aim does not matter. The final doors open. Hit the switch at the top of the stairs and the platform flings you toward Monk Kaam Ya’tak. Before landing, glide to the ledge behind the switch for a chest with a Diamond, then ride the platform again for the Spirit Orb.

Chests and rewards

  • Edge of Duality: by the wooden shelf, a two-handed sword with 50 attack.
  • Knight’s Broadsword: in a chest through the first doors, on the left.
  • Ancient Core: in a chest beyond the tilting stone bridge, near the motion apparatus.
  • Silver Rupee: behind the cracked rocks.
  • Diamond: in a chest on the ledge behind the switch.
  • Spirit Orb: from Monk Kaam Ya’tak.
