Katosa Aug Shrine (Katosa Aug Apparatus)

Katosa Aug is a pair of hammer puzzles. You use a tilt-controlled apparatus to tap a stone orb gently into its receptacle, then repeat the trick in a second, trickier room behind the monk to unlock a chest with a Great Frostblade.

How to find it

Go to East Akkala Stable in the east of Akkala. The shrine stands in the open beside the stable, at the junction of the roads from East Akkala Beach and Ordorac Quarry, so no preparation is needed.

Solution

Roll the first orb across

The apparatus is on your right as you enter. Step up to it and use the motion controls to swing the hammer. Tap the orb softly so it rolls into the receptacle on the platform ahead; a hard hit sends it over the edge. If it falls, back out of the apparatus screen and try again. A floating platform rises once the orb lands.

Go behind the monk

Cross the new platform, but skip the monk for the moment. Walk behind him to find a second room with another apparatus and orb.

Roll the second orb

Hold the controller flat and level before you start so the hammer begins neutral, and reposition the hammer before leaving the screen after any miss so it does not knock the next orb away. Do not try to drive the orb over the central ramps. Strike it at medium speed and at an angle so it curls gently around into the receptacle.

Collect the chest and finish

The chest on your right is now open and holds a Great Frostblade. Then speak to the monk for the Spirit Orb.

Chests and rewards

  • Great Frostblade: in the chest that opens when the second orb is placed.
  • Spirit Orb: from the monk once you have finished.
