Ancient Zora Waterworks

Ancient Zora Waterworks is a cave in Lanayru Great Spring, about 85 map units from East Reservoir Lake. Caves like this one hide chests and a Bubbulfrog that drops a Bubbul Gem; trade the gems to Koltin in The Hunt for Bubbul Gems!

How to find it

The entrance is at map coordinates 3606, 122, near East Reservoir Lake. Look for the cave mouth at that spot; a Blupee or a ring of light often marks them.

Inside the cave

Dive into the waterworks

Dive into the light at East Reservoir Lake and drop through to the flooded stone halls. Wade down the tiled steps past the spouting water jet into the first corridor.

Open the Zora Sword chest

Follow the corridor into the coral-filled room. The chest there holds a Zora Sword, and a Hydrant Boomerang lies on the floor nearby.

Collect the Zora Shield and the Opal

A chest on a rocky ledge near the start holds a Zora Shield. Further in, in a round chamber closed off by a lattice gate, a chest holds an Opal.

Burn the boards for the Large Zonai Charge

Boards and thorny vines block one passage. Burn the boards with fire (a Fire Fruit or a flame emitter works) and open the chest behind them for a Large Zonai Charge.

Open the Zora Longsword chest

Swim down to the chest on the floor of the water to take a Zora Longsword.

Strike the Bubbulfrog

Past a second Zora Shield chest, a Bubbulfrog floats in the open water near the coral. Shoot it with an arrow and pick up the Bubbul Gem.

Requirements, chests and extras

The Waterworks lies under East Reservoir Lake and only opens during the Lanayru main quest: after Sidon of the Zora, solve the puzzle on Floating Scales Island so a pillar of light appears over the reservoir, then speak to Sidon at the lake so he makes a whirlpool you can dive into. Inside, change the water level to reach a Zonai terminal that cleanses a waterfall near Mipha’s Court and opens the way to the Water Temple.

The cave holds six chests in total: in the water near the entrance; in the water on the north side of the main chamber; inside the northwestern pipes; on a northwestern ledge of the main chamber; under thorns on a ledge on the east side of the main room; and behind the waterfall below the tunnel in the main room. Their contents are the items listed above: Zora Sword, Zora Shield (twice), Opal, Large Zonai Charge and Zora Longsword. The Bubbulfrog is near the end of the cave, in a small hidden cave up a hill; an Ice Like guards the cave mouth and can be ignored.

After you finish the Water Temple, the water drains from the main chamber and a tunnel appears at the bottom with the Zora Greaves (side quest A Token of Friendship); a hole in the ground then leads to a Stone Talus (Luminous) fight. No Korok seed is tied to the cave.
