Tanagar Canyon West Cave

Tanagar Canyon West Cave is a long, rubble-blocked cavern with three chests, a Bubbulfrog and Iun-orok Shrine at its centre. Bring plenty of hammers or heavy weapons for the rock walls, bomb arrows, and a free shield slot or two for the loot.

How to find the entrance

Drop into Tanagar Canyon from the Tabantha Great Bridge or glide south-west from Lindor’s Brow Skyview Tower, and walk north up the sandy canyon floor along the west wall. A dark cave mouth sits at the end of a gentle slope beneath a large rock face; Bomb Flowers grow near the mouth.

Inside, the cave opens onto a high ledge over a big cavern. Climb down the wall and glide to the lower floor.

Route through the cave

Smash the rubble

Follow the winding tunnel down, picking up Flint and Bomb Flowers. Cracked rock blocks the tunnel more than once; break it with a hammer, a fused weapon or bombs. Hammers wear out quickly, so carry spares.

Open the Feathered Spear chest

The tunnel opens into a dim cavern. A chest sits on the floor beside the stone wall and holds a Feathered Spear.

Shoot the Bubbulfrog

Look up at the wall of the cavern: a pale Bubbulfrog clings to it. Shoot it with an arrow so it falls, then hit it. Pick up the Bubbul Gem and take it to Koltin for The Hunt for Bubbul Gems!

Beat the Shock Like

Cross the gloom-stained floor into a cavern lined with big blue-grey boulders. A Shock Like hangs on the wall; hit it with an arrow or a bomb to bring it down. It drops a Shock Like Stone.

Open the Hunter’s Shield chest

A wooden chest stands near the Shock Like’s wall. It holds a Hunter’s Shield; make space in your shield inventory first.

Reach Iun-orok Shrine

Break through the next few rubble walls and keep tunnelling to a wide ruined chamber. The shrine stands at the top of a flight of steps, marked by a swirl of green light and a blue platform. Its chest holds Arrow x10; leaving the shrine puts you back on its platform in the cave.

Open the Kite Shield chest

Continue through the tunnels beyond the shrine, picking up Arrow x5, Ice Fruit and an Ice Like Stone. The chest sits in an alcove of carved stone ruins and holds a Kite Shield.

Leave the cave

The last tunnel climbs a short slope to a bright opening onto a sunlit stretch of the canyon, where you can pick up Sticky Lizards.

Tips

  • Light a path with Brightbloom Seeds; much of the cave is dark.
  • Stay out of the red gloom pools unless you are wearing gloom-resistant gear.
