Baddek, camped on the hill by Ishokin Shrine, will give you his crystal if you bring him the Giant White Stallion. Find the stallion near Horse God Bridge, calm and ride it back to Baddek, then take the crystal to the shrine.

Walkthrough

Talk to Baddek at his campsite

Step on the glowing pad of Ishokin Shrine to start the quest, and the beam of light points to Baddek’s camp on a nearby hill. Baddek will trade you the crystal for a look at the giant horse rumored to be around Highland Stable.

Find the Giant White Stallion

From Highland Stable, go east across Horse God Bridge toward the Lake of the Horse God. The stallion waits at the end of the ravine past the travelers’ camp, in Ibara Butte (about 803, -3718, 81); it is a dead end, and a Talus near the west end of the bridge can be outrun on horseback. Crouch and approach it quietly from behind.

Mount and calm the stallion

Press A to mount it, then keep mashing L to soothe it as it tries to throw you off. Taming takes close to three stamina wheels, so eat stamina-restoring food if you run low (10 Stamella Shrooms cook into two Energizing Mushroom Skewers). You can also freeze it with an Ice Fruit arrow, or glide down onto it from above. The meter fills and the horse accepts you as its rider.

Register the horse at Highland Stable

Ride back across Horse God Bridge to Highland Stable and talk to Padok at the counter to register your new mount. This lets you call it and board it at any stable.

Bring the horse to Baddek

Ride to Baddek’s hill, following the beam of light (south of Zokassa Ridge, by the only campfire in the area). Talk to him with the horse beside you and he says it is even bigger than he imagined, and hands over the crystal.

Take the crystal to Ishokin Shrine

Carry the crystal to the empty pedestal and set it down. Ishokin Shrine rises; inside there is no puzzle, so take the lift, open the chest for a Topaz and enter the green gate for the Light of Blessing.

Rewards

You earn the Light of Blessing and a Topaz from the shrine chest. The Nikohsi Lightroot lies below the shrine at (-564, -3524, -595), and you keep the Giant White Stallion as a mount.

Tips

  • Stamina is the limiting factor: Stamella Shrooms and Stambulbs make good taming food.
  • A photo of the stallion also earns an Energizing Honey Crepe and a Pony Point from Padok in A Picture for Highland Stable.
  • Registering the horse at a stable gives it its own Pony Point, and it can be summoned from any stable afterwards.
