The Gisa Crater Crystal

Quest typeShrine quest
GiverMysterious Voice
Starts inGisa Crater, Tabantha Frontier (Hebra)
ShrineIkatak Shrine
RewardEntry to Ikatak Shrine, a Big Battery chest and a Light of Blessing

Ikatak Shrine stays sealed until you bring it a crystal. The shrine sits on a dry plain in Tabantha Frontier, south of Rospro Pass; gliding southwest from Rospro Pass Skyview Tower is the easiest way there, and no further story progress is required. A green beam from the shrine points to the crystal in the cave below Gisa Crater: grab it, launch it out of the cave with Rockets and carry it back to the shrine entrance. The shrine itself has no puzzle.

Walkthrough

Activate the shrine and follow the beam

Walk up to the shrine’s stone arch on the dry plain above Gisa Crater and examine it to start the quest. A green beam shoots from the arch toward the crater to the south; follow it to the crater’s rim, where an opening in the rock leads down into Gisa Crater Cave.

Find the crystal and attach Rockets

Drop into the cave and clear the Ice Likes and Stalkoblins, or lift the crystal from a distance with Ultrahand. The beam ends at a green crystal on the cave floor. Carry it to the open middle of the chamber, glue two of the Rockets lying around to its sides and aim the crystal at the hole in the ceiling.

Launch the crystal and offer it at the shrine

Hit a Rocket to fire the crystal out of the cave, climb out after it with Ascend or your paraglider, and bring the crystal back to the shrine arch. Offering it triggers a short cutscene that completes the quest and opens the shrine; inside, open the chest for a Big Battery and take the Light of Blessing at the far end.

Rewards

You get the Light of Blessing from Ikatak Shrine and a Big Battery from its chest. The cave also holds three chests with a Hunter’s Shield, a Falcon Bow and a Feathered Spear (scaling gear, so their strength depends on your progress). The Mysterious Voice gives the quest when you first examine the shrine, and the shrine itself is a plain reward shrine with no puzzle.

Tips

  • Shoot the Ice Likes’ cores with arrows to bring them down quickly.
  • The crystal can be seen from the crater’s rim before you drop in, and a smaller crater nearby has a Bubbulfrog and some ore if you want to look around first.
  • Once the Rockets lift the crystal high enough they separate from it and it drops back to the ground, so wait for it to fall and pick it up.
  • If the crystal veers off course, adjust the Rockets so they line up with the hole before you strike them.
