Eshos Shrine (Combat Training: Shields)

Eshos Shrine is a Combat Training shrine that tests shield parrying. A Soldier Construct fires projectiles at you: tap A just before each one lands to send it back. A chest at the end holds a Mighty Zonaite Shield (Strong or Mighty, depending on your progress). The shrine sits in West Necluda, about 140 map units from Big Twin Bridge. The Sohse Lightroot lies directly beneath it in the Depths.

How to find it

Eshos Shrine is at map coordinates 1565, -1944 (height 171), on the northern side of the Dueling Peaks, on a cliff above Dueling Peaks Stable and near Big Twin Bridge in West Necluda. The nearest tower is Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower. Walk down the stairs into the large room; the way back closes and the Constructs wake up.

Solution

Equip a shield and parry the first projectiles

Equip a shield before you step in. The Construct throws a projectile at you: hold ZL to lock on and press A just as it reaches you to reflect it back. A parried hit staggers the Construct. Repeat until it goes down. If you have no shield, Old Wooden and Rusty shields lie in the room’s south-west corner.

Match your shield to the element

In the second round two Constructs fire fire and lightning projectiles. A wooden shield burns when it parries fire and a metal shield conducts lightning, so pick up a spare shield from the floor and swap as needed, and keep parrying the glowing projectiles back at the Constructs until they are both down. Each Construct only needs to be parried once. They may drop a Ruby Rod, Construct Bow, Topaz Broadsword or Zonai Charges.

Open the chest and take the Light of Blessing

Walk through the inner chamber to the chest on the steps below the terminal. It holds a Mighty Zonaite Shield (Strong or Mighty, depending on your progress). Touch the terminal beyond to receive the Light of Blessing.

The Lightroot below

Directly under this shrine, in the Depths, is the Sohse Lightroot. Light it from below to reveal that part of the Depths map.
