Ijo-o Shrine (More Than Defense)

Ijo-o Shrine is a puzzle shrine on the West Hebra Sky Archipelago where shields do the work. Melt the ice with a flame-emitter shield, block the fire jets with a stone-slab shield and launch yourself upward with a rocket shield.

How to find it

Reach the shrine

Ijo-o Shrine is at -3861, 2681, at a height of about 716, on a small island of the West Hebra Sky Archipelago north of the Rospro Pass Skyview Tower. Glide to the island and enter the green doorway. Look for the small island with a balloon platform (Balloon plus Flame Emitter on a grate) to gain height, and wear cold resistance. The Zonai dispenser on the north side of the entry platform offers Time Bombs, Portable Pots, Flame Emitters and Rockets.

Solution

Melt the ice with a flame-emitter shield

Defeat the Soldier Construct beside the entry hall and pick up the Flame-Emitter Shield it drops. Hold the shield up against the ice blocks to melt them. Do not use it up: more ice waits in the next room.

Open the chest

In the second room, melt the ice block in the same way and open the chest behind it for Arrow x5.

Block the fire corridor

Take the Stone-Slab Shield from the second Construct and hold it in front of you to walk through the flame jets sweeping the corridor.

Launch up with a rocket shield

In the last room, defeat the Captain Construct in the middle first, then fuse a Zonai Rocket to a shield (Rusty Shields are scattered around the room if yours have broken); one rocket is enough. Face the far wall, activate the rocket and glide up to the altar platform.
