Mayak Shrine (Timely Catches)

Mayak Shrine is a timing puzzle: in each room you release a stone ball with Ultrahand and hit an orange pillar at the right moment so the ball lands on a plate and opens the way on. The reward is a Large Zonai Charge in a chest and the Light of Blessing.

How to find it

The shrine sits inside a large rock in the East Deplian Badlands, in the Eldin Mountains at about 1269, 3733, north-east of Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower; launch from the tower and glide north-east. Step onto the blue travel platform in front of the rock and go through the glowing doorway.

Solution

Hit the orange pillar in time (first room)

Use the floor piston to reach the upper level, pick up the stone ball with Ultrahand and put it down on the track so it rolls toward the chute. Run back to the orange pillar and strike it with a weapon just before the ball would leave the track; the pillar slides the button plate under the falling ball. If you miss, pick the ball up and drop it again. The window is only a couple of seconds wide, so strike the pillar roughly a second before the ball would drop off the chute, and raise the camera speed if you struggle to aim. Once the plate is triggered, use the floor launcher to cross the gap to the next room.

Pick up the chest

The chest hangs from a rope on a pillar in the near-left corner of the second room, about a third of the way up. Cut the rope with an arrow (a Keese Eyeball or fire arrow helps with the aim), or launch yourself up and glide past it, then hit the rope with a melee strike. The chest drops into the water below; lift it out with Ultrahand and open it for a Large Zonai Charge.

Catch the ball in the second room

The second room repeats the idea at greater height. Use the launchers to climb to the top platform, set the second ball on the ramp, then dive back down to the pillar (open the glider just before you land). Wait a moment on the pillar’s platform, then strike it so the ball hits the target plate. The timing window is tight, so adjust and retry.

Take the Light of Blessing

With both plates triggered the gate at the end opens. Interact with the green seal on the terminal beyond it to receive the Light of Blessing.

The Lightroot below

Directly under this shrine, in the Depths, is the Kayam Lightroot. Light it from below to reveal that part of the Depths map. The Depths here are scorching, so bring fire protection.
