Walkthrough

Beat Kohga in the Great Abandoned Central Mine

The side adventure starts when Kohga escapes from the boss fight in A Mystery in the Depths, the first of four fights. He fights from a spiked buggy: dodge his charges, stay behind pillars while he winds up and strike him from the side. When he flees, the quest log points you to the Abandoned Gerudo Mine and a line of statues leads there.

Defeat Kohga at the Abandoned Gerudo Mine

Follow the statues across the Depths to the Abandoned Gerudo Mine at (-3816, -2890, -383). Here he has swapped the buggy for a winged glider (fanplane), so keep your shield up against his fast strikes and hit him after his big swings. Open the chest afterwards for a Huge Crystallized Charge, and talk to the Steward Construct for a Schema Stone (a Hovercraft, per guides).

Chase him to the Abandoned Lanayru Mine

Travel to the Kawagom Lightroot (3299, 423) and cross to the Abandoned Lanayru Mine at (3170, 936, -677). The fight repeats with a longer chain of attacks. This mine lies beneath Zora’s Domain (the Chasm Under Zora’s Domain is the quickest way in), and Kohga rides a headlight raft with archer Yiga Footsoldiers. Another Huge Crystallized Charge waits in a chest afterwards, and its Steward Construct gives a Bolt Boat Schema Stone. Kohga then leaves for the north-western mine, the Abandoned Hebra Mine.

Finish him at the Abandoned Hebra Mine

The Abandoned Hebra Mine lies under Rito Village and its chasm is hidden at first: talk to Ponnick on the cliff face in the south of Rito Village and he points out the Rito Village Chasm in a small cave. Warp to the Sikatag Lightroot (-3651, 1806), which sits just outside the mine at (-3457, 1862, -316). Kohga revives his ultimate weapon, a giant construct that sweeps the hall with beams. Dodge the beams, use Zonai devices or Recall to break its shields, and defeat it. Kohga is blasted skyward, and the chests that appear afterwards (one on top of the forge) hold a Huge Crystallized Charge and a Diamond. The Steward Constructs also give a Schema Stone (guides name Scaffolding or Rocket Platform) and open the forge shop.

Rewards

  • A Huge Crystallized Charge from the chest after each mine fight.
  • A Diamond from the final chest at the Abandoned Hebra Mine.
  • A Schema Stone from the Steward Constructs at the mines (Fanplane, Hovercraft, Bolt Boat and a fourth at Hebra).
  • Some mines also have a Large Crystallized Charge nearby.

Tips

  • Bring plenty of food, Brightbloom Seeds and a solid weapon; every fight takes place in the dark.
  • Light each mine’s Lightroot as you go so you can fast travel back.
