Walkthrough
Talk to Penn and Harlow
Speak to Penn and Harlow outside Snowfield Stable. Harlow explains that Zelda’s golden horse panicked and ran off to the north, and that she cannot search for it with a huge monster, the Frost Gleeok, roaming the snowfield. She gives you an Energizing Elixir to help with taming.

Find the golden horse
Head straight north from the stable; the horse is among a herd of wild horses and glows gold against the snow, so it is easy to spot. You can avoid the Frost Gleeok, or shoot its head with arrows until it drops and finish it in melee. Crouch and walk up behind the horse, press A to mount, then tap L to soothe it. It is harder to calm than ordinary horses, so keep soothing as you are bucked and use the Energizing Elixir or stamina food when your stamina runs low.

Ride it back to Harlow
Once the horse is calm, ride it back to Snowfield Stable and talk to Harlow. Penn is there too. Harlow gives the horse to you because it has grown attached, and Penn flies off to write up the story. Register the horse at the stable counter and name it; its stats are fixed, so there is no need to re-roll.

Rewards
You receive the Golden Horse, which comes with a Royal Bridle and Royal Saddle, and Penn pays you rupees (50 for your first or second Penn quest, 50 plus 20 for the third, and so on up to 300 for the twelfth). This quest is the first one in the Potential Princess Sightings! chain in most guides.
Tips
- A stealth elixir or stealth armor makes the approach easier.
- Bring stamina food or elixirs; calming the horse takes a lot of stamina, and extra stamina wheels from shrines help.
