GiverBugut
Starts inKakariko Village, West Necluda
RequirementsNone to start, but clearing Codgers’ Quarrel (monsters in one ruin) and Out of the Inn (the innkeeper sleeps on one slab) makes the ruins easier to read; the floating ruin is off limits
RewardThree Thunderwing Butterflies

Bugut, afraid of heights, asks you to read the Zonai stone slabs in the Ring Ruins around Kakariko Village. Read the Deciphered Slabs notes at four ruins, then tell Bugut what they say for three Thunderwing Butterflies.

Walkthrough

Talk to Bugut

Bugut wanders Kakariko Village, so check the quest marker; he often stands near the shops. He tells you a stone slab with Zonai writing sits in four of the Ring Ruins, and asks you to read them for him because he cannot visit the ruins himself. The floating ruin above the village is off limits.

Read the slabs at the four ruins

Visit the four ruins that are on the ground: one south-west of the village (Bokoblins often camp there; the journal is in its south-west section), one north of Lantern Lake on scaffolding, one east of the village near a Zonai capsule machine where a man named Xalis stands, and one more in the north-west. Each has a stone slab with a researcher’s Deciphered Slabs journal on a stand beside it; open the journal to read the translation. One ruin is the one where Steen and Olkin ask for help in Codgers’ Quarrel, so clear it first. Makasura Shrine above the village is a quick way to reach the northern ruins.

Report back to Bugut

Return to Bugut after reading all four. He shares what they might mean and gives you three Thunderwing Butterflies, which you can cook with a monster part to make an Electro Elixir.

Rewards

Three Thunderwing Butterflies.

Tips

  • You can read the four journals in any order, and return to Bugut wherever his marker is.
  • Clearing the Bokoblins first makes reading the journals safer.
