RequirementsWin the Cold-Endurance Contest! first; the entry fee is 150 rupees
RewardGold Rupee

Rahdo’s daytime challenge is a test of survival: stand on a stone pillar next to his tent, in nothing but your underwear, from morning until late afternoon without ever touching the ground. Eat or drink for heat resistance beforehand, stay on the pillar and Rahdo eventually gives up, paying you a Gold Rupee.

Walkthrough

Accept the contest

The contest follows the Cold-Endurance Contest!, so win that one first; Rahdo challenges you to the heat version as soon as you beat him at night. His tent sits on a sandy plateau of pillars at Mount Granajh in Gerudo Canyon. Talk to Rahdo, pay the 150 rupee entry fee and say you are ready; you are stripped down to your underwear for the contest.

Climb your pillar and stay put

Climb onto the pillar beside the tent and stay there for the entire contest, which runs through the heat of the day. Touching the ground disqualifies you, and the sun drains hearts quickly in the desert. Eat heat-resistant food or drink a Chilly Elixir before you start (and again if the effect expires) and wait. Once you are set, let the clock run until Rahdo gives up.

Collect your reward

Rahdo gives in once the heat has beaten him. Talk to him by the campfire and he hands over a Gold Rupee, worth 300 rupees, before he leaves on a training journey.

Rewards

  • Gold Rupee

Tips

  • Keep a few hearts of reserve: if your health runs out, the contest ends and you lose.
  • Heat resistance is the key: eat heat-resistant food or drink an elixir, fuse a Sapphire or another cold material to your shield or weapon, or carry an ice weapon such as one fused with a Frost Talus Heart.
  • You can also build a small shelter beside your pillar with Ultrahand from nearby rocks, or shuffle around the side of the pillar to stay in its shade, as long as your feet stay off the ground.
  • Guides give slightly different clock windows (roughly 8:00 to 4:30 in the afternoon) and the whole contest only lasts a few real minutes, so just stay on the pillar until Rahdo gives up. The contest takes place by day, while the cold contest is at night.
  • Guides disagree on the payout: most describe a Gold Rupee, while one lists double your 150 rupee wager (a 300 rupee pot). A Gold Rupee is worth 300 rupees, so either way you come out 150 rupees ahead once the entry fee is paid.
