Talk to Reede at his vegetable field once the Hateno mayoral election is over. Then defend the plants from monsters through the night until sunrise to earn five Sun Pumpkins.

Walkthrough

Talk to Reede in the field

Find Reede in his vegetable patch in Hateno Village. He lets you in on his secret project, Cece-brand vegetables. Monsters come at night and trash the fields, so he needs a bodyguard. Agree to help and time moves to the middle of the night.

Defend the field until daybreak

Fight off the monsters that attack the field. Stay close to Reede and keep them away from the plants. Throwing Dazzlefruit as a group arrives stuns them for an easy cleanup, and a bow helps with those that stay at range. If you are forced to retreat, you can try again.

Collect your Sun Pumpkins

Once the monsters are beaten and the sun rises, Reede thanks you and names the vegetable. He hands over Sun Pumpkin x5.

Rewards

Sun Pumpkin x5. Afterwards Sun Pumpkins can be bought at the Hateno General Store for about 20 rupees each, in limited stock that refreshes. When cooked, they help against Gloom damage.

Tips

  • The fight is roughly five waves of Stal enemies (Stalkoblins, Stalmoblins and Stalizalfos), which fall in two or three hits, so use a spare weapon.
  • Do not leave Reede alone: the monsters eventually go for him, and if he is hit enough times the quest fails.
  • You cannot leave the patch during the fight; use a bow on any stragglers.
  • Night falls automatically when you accept, and sunrise (5 am) ends the quest; defeating the waves skips ahead to it.
