Dai is minding Kakariko Village’s inn because the owner, Ollie, has not come back from changing the survey team’s bedsheets. Find Ollie asleep at the survey camp in the Ring Ruins behind the village, wake him with a Hearty Truffle (one grows in a cave behind a waterfall in the village), and Dai rewards you with a Sticky Elixir.
Walkthrough
Talk to Dai at the inn
Walk into the inn in the middle of Kakariko Village and speak to Dai at the desk. He explains that Ollie left to change the bedding in the survey teams’ tents and never returned, and that there are four tent camps in the village area. Until Ollie is found you cannot use the inn.
Find Ollie at the Ring Ruins camp
Ollie is at the survey camp inside the Ring Ruins, the ring-shaped cliffs behind Paya’s Hall at the back of the village. He is fast asleep on a bed there and will not respond to being talked to. Ollie only mumbles about Hearty Truffles in his sleep. A worker at the camp, Gordi, says he saw a truffle near the waterfall in the village and points you toward it. Be careful on the climb to the camp: a wrong path leads into a restricted area. Fast travelling to Makasura Shrine puts you close to the route.
Collect a Hearty Truffle
If you already carry a Hearty Truffle, skip ahead. Otherwise head to the waterfall in Kakariko Village, glide to the top of it (Zora armor lets you climb it) and crouch through the small hole where the water comes out of the cliff to reach a hidden cave. Follow the short passage to the room with an Ascend spot; the Hearty Truffle lies on the ground there (some guides report a second truffle in the cave). A Bubbulfrog with a Bubbul Gem sits in the back room.
Wake Ollie and return
Take the truffle back to the camp, hold it, and drop it on the ground next to Ollie. The smell wakes him and he hurries back to the inn. Pick the truffle up again, glide back down to the village and talk to Dai (or Ollie) to finish the quest and collect your Sticky Elixir.
Rewards
Dai gives you a Sticky Elixir and, now that Ollie is back, you can pay to sleep in the inn’s beds.
Tips
- A Hearty Truffle is also a strong healing ingredient, so it is worth taking a second one from the cave if you can.
- Do not wander off the route to the Ring Ruins camp; part of the ruins behind the village is off limits.
- If you already carry a Hearty Truffle from elsewhere, you can go straight to Ollie.
