Mota is stuck in Death Mountain West Tunnel because the track is broken. Set his cart back on the rail with Ultrahand, get him inside and send it flying out of the cave, then talk to him outside for his reward.
Walkthrough
Cross to Mota
Enter Death Mountain West Tunnel at the western foot of Death Mountain. The track ends at a gap above lava, so paraglide across, or attach a rocket to a mine cart at the entrance. Talk to Mota on the far side to start the quest.
Set the cart back on the track
Use Ultrahand to lift the nearby mine cart onto the rail. Talk to Mota and choose the dialogue option about getting on, and he climbs in.
Launch the cart out of the cave
Push the cart over the broken stretch. Break the wall of cracked rock near Mota to find Zonai devices including Rockets, attach a rocket to each side of the cart and light them with a fire arrow, or stand behind it and have Yunobo charge it. Mota flies out of the tunnel; paraglide back across the gap and talk to him at the far end for his reward, a Large Zonai Charge.
Rewards
- Large Zonai Charge from Mota.
- A buried chest in the cave holds a Cobble Crusher (one guide says Boulder Breaker), and a Bubbulfrog hides in the room behind the rock-blocked passage behind Mota; break the rocks with a weapon or Yunobo.
