Walkthrough

Talk to Barles

Barles waits in front of her tent at the foot of the garbage mountain, east of Oseira Plains in the south of Gerudo Canyon. Speak to her and she asks you to get rid of the tumbleweeds, because she has been unable to clear them one at a time.

Clear every tumbleweed

Walk across the garbage heap and eliminate all the tumbleweeds on it. Any attack removes one, but burning them is the quickest approach: fire spreads between tumbleweeds that touch, so a single Fire Fruit arrow or a torch can take out a pile. A Flame Emitter or a Fan lifted out of the junk with Ultrahand also works, and Bomb Flowers clear tight clusters. Check the far side of the mound for stragglers; the quest log tracks it until none remain.

Report back for your reward

Return to Barles at her tent once the tumbleweeds are gone. She thanks you and gives you a Royal Shield. If your shield inventory is full she waits until you free a slot, so drop or fuse one first.

Rewards

  • Royal Shield

Tips

  • Fire spreads quickly across the dry heap; stand upwind or on bare ground and watch your own hearts.
  • The garbage heap contains a partly buried Flame Emitter and several Fans; pull them out with Ultrahand, point them at the tumbleweeds and let them do the work. You can also pick tumbleweeds up with Ultrahand and drop them off the cliff edge beside the dump.
  • Aim for a tumbleweed that touches several others so one fire chains across the lot.
  • If the log says tumbleweeds remain, look along the edges of the garbage mound and up on its higher ledges.
