Gralens of the monster-control crew at Lookout Landing reports a huge Molduga swimming through the sand of the East Barrens. Defeat it, then return to him at the Emergency Shelter for a Silver Rupee.

Walkthrough

Speak to Gralens

Find Gralens in the Emergency Shelter at Lookout Landing and ask about big monsters. Choose the big monsters topic, then Molduga. He says the research division spotted a Molduga in the East Barrens of the Gerudo Desert and asks you to take it down; the East Barrens are not covered by the sandstorm, so you do not need to finish Regional Phenomena first.

Find the Molduga in the East Barrens

Travel to the East Barrens, where the Molduga roams near Siwakama Shrine (guides give roughly (-2384, -3383)); watch for a moving wave of sand. The Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower launch-and-glide is the quickest way in. Climb onto a rock ridge and keep quiet; it attacks anything that makes noise.

Defeat the Molduga

Draw it out with a thrown item, then hit its open mouth with Bomb Flowers or arrows when it surfaces. Repeat from the ridges until it collapses and drops Molduga Guts.

Report back for your reward

Return to Gralens in Lookout Landing. He confirms the report and hands you a Silver Rupee (100 rupees). Some guides add that after all three Wanted quests (Stone Talus, Hinox and Molduga) he adds a Gold Rupee (300 rupees).

Rewards

  • Silver Rupee
  • Molduga materials from the fight (Dorsal Fin, Liver, Jaw)

Tips

  • Once it is at about half health it stops burrowing and a heavy two-handed weapon works well; Zonai Time Bombs or Riju’s Lightning Strike also drag it out.
  • If you already beat this Molduga before talking to Gralens, you can report it afterward.
  • Stay off flat sand; use rock ridges or a vehicle.
