The Abandoned Gerudo Mine is the second of Master Kohga’s hideouts and the next stop after the Great Abandoned Central Mine. Walk in from Gonatoyros Lightroot, beat Kohga while he flies overhead in a Fanplane, then open the chest and talk to the Steward Construct for the Hovercraft schematic and directions to the next mine.

Before you go

The Gerudo Depths are dark, with Yiga camps full of breakable crates that hold arrows and Brightbloom Seeds. Carry a bow with plenty of arrows and fuse Keese Eyeballs to them for the fight. Light Gonatoyros Lightroot first so you can fast travel back afterwards.

Getting there

Walk in from Gonatoyros Lightroot

Light Gonatoyros Lightroot (-3882, -2963, -455), below Soryotanog Shrine, then head a short way north-east to the mine at (-3816, -2890, -383). The approach has a Yiga camp with crates for arrows and Brightbloom Seeds. A Forge Construct in the refinery hall trades Large Zonaite for Zonai Charges, so bring spare Zonaite.

Master Kohga fight

Shoot Kohga past his eye shield

Kohga flies this time, in a Fanplane with flame emitters underneath that is later fitted with a cannon, and he throws explosives. Fuse a Keese Eyeball (electric ones work well) to arrows so they home in on him and knock him down. After taking some damage he raises screens at the front and sides that block hits from those angles, so get above him: launch off the Spring on the battlefield, or use Fans, Hover Stones or a Rocket, and shoot in slow motion while airborne. Repeat until he falls. His health scales with your progress, so keep a few meals ready. When he is beaten he escapes in a cloud of smoke.

Rewards

Collect the chest and the Schema Stone

Open the chest in the middle of the hall for a Huge Crystallized Charge. Talk to the Steward Construct beside the pillar to receive a Schema Stone, which registers the Hovercraft design with Autobuild. It also says that the Eastern Abandoned Mine Kohga spoke of is the Abandoned Lanayru Mine.

RewardWhere
Huge Crystallized ChargeChest in the middle of the hall after the fight

Large Crystallized ChargeChest in a lamp-lit chamber past the Flux Construct II arena on the way in (other guides place a Large Crystallized Charge in a building at the far south of the mine)

Tips

  • Kohga’s fights get longer each time; save healing meals for the Lanayru and Hebra mines.
  • The side adventure is not complete until you beat him at the Abandoned Hebra Mine.
