The Abandoned Hebra Mine is the last of Master Kohga’s hideouts. Drop in from Rito Village Chasm, loot the Yiga camp, forge and chest on the way, then fight Kohga’s giant construct in the main hall. It sweeps the room with beams, so dodge them and break its shields. The Huge Crystallized Charge and Diamond chests finish the Master Kohga of the Yiga Clan side adventure.

Before you go

This is the hardest of the four fights. Bring a strong weapon and shield, several healing meals, plenty of arrows and Zonai devices with spare batteries. Wear the Snowquill set on the surface, because Rito Village sits in a blizzard.

Getting there

Drop through Rito Village Chasm

The chasm opens in the snow slope at (-3573, 1802), just east of Rito Village in the Hebra Mountains. Glide down; the first landing is the Abandoned Hebra Mine. Light Sikatag Lightroot (-3652, 1806, -438) so you can fast travel back, then walk east into the mine.

Explore the mine

Raid the Yiga camp, forge and chest

A Yiga camp near (-3413, 1872, -417) holds crates with arrows, Brightbloom Seeds and Mighty Bananas. A Forge Construct at about (-3471, 1888, -417) trades Zonaite and Large Zonaite for Zonai Charges. Climb to the stone block north of the forge (other guides describe it as the top of the forge) at about (-3474, 1925, -348) and open the chest for a Large Crystallized Charge. The Steward Construct in the mine gives you the Rocket Platform schematic.

Boss fight

Defeat Kohga’s Ultimate Weapon

Kohga pilots his Ultimate Weapon, a rebuilt giant construct, in the main hall inside an electrified fence. Its early attacks are mostly one-armed punches, which you can dodge by moving away. It sweeps the room with green beams and spiked eye wheels. Keep moving between the beams and hit the glowing orange eyes on its wheels and arms to break its plating. Use Recall on its flying parts to send them back, and bring your sword in once the blue block protecting Kohga shatters; his head is his weak point. Knocking the construct into the electric fence stuns it and makes Kohga fall out of the cockpit, which is your chance to shoot him. Dodge its punch first, then push it into the edge with a heavy weapon. Stand behind it when its arms aim at you, since the corner beams cannot reach its back, and shoot its three bombs early, using Recall on the last one. Bringing Mineru along helps. Eat when your hearts run low and do not stand in a beam.

Rewards

Open the final chests

After the fight, one chest in the hall holds a Huge Crystallized Charge and another holds a Diamond. The Steward Construct then mentions other abandoned mines under settlements, and the side adventure is complete.

Tips

  • Bring Zonaite to the forge to turn it into Zonai Charges before the boss.
  • Light Sikatag Lightroot before leaving so you can come back for the forge.
  • Both final chests appear inside the square building only after Kohga is beaten. All four mines together pay four Huge and three Large Crystallized Charges, enough for several Energy Wells, and Kohga cannot be fought again.
