The Spirit Temple is not a puzzle dungeon: you arrive riding Mineru’s rebuilt Construct, descend to a gloom-covered boxing ring and fight the Seized Construct from inside Mineru’s machine. Block its punches, counter, and knock it into the electrified ropes. Beating it gives a Heart Container and Mineru’s Vow.

Before you go

Finish Find the Fifth Sage (it follows Crisis at Hyrule Castle) and the four depots first, because the Construct cannot move until all four limbs are fitted at the Construct Factory. Bring spare Zonai Charges, or Energy Cells you have upgraded, since riding the Construct drains your battery and the ride to the temple is long. Mineru’s machine walks through gloom without harming you, but you are on your own on foot, so pack a few hearty meals and something that restores gloom-damaged hearts.

At the armories along the way you can attach weapons to the Construct’s arms and a Fan to its back. A Rocket is needed to climb the last ledge below the temple, and Spiked Balls are waiting in the boss arena.

Getting there

Ride the Construct to the temple

Once all four parts are fitted, climb aboard and follow the yellow waypoint south-east of the Construct Factory. Activate Sitoju Lightroot as you pass, break rock walls in the way with the Construct’s punches, and pause when the battery runs low so the Energy Cell refills. Near the temple a steep ledge stops the Construct; use the Rockets at the nearby armory, attach one to its back and fire it to boost up.

Wake the owl statue and descend

At the top, interact with the owl statue while you ride the Construct. The mask activates the temple’s elevator. Ride it down and cross the gloom-covered floor to the boss arena. Activating the statue also unlocks the temple’s travel point.

Defeat the Seized Construct

Phase one: block, then counter

Spiked Balls lie around the arena, and a Cannon or Shock Emitter fused to one arm is a big help: a cannon shot or a shock stuns the Seized Construct so you can close in and hit it with the spiked ball on your other arm. Hold the cannon shot for about a second before it fires and aim at its chest. For melee, hold ZL to block. Its punches are telegraphed by the arm that pulls back, and it raises both hands when it defends. After you block, answer with a short series of punches and the Seized Construct is thrown backwards.

Knock it into the ropes

The ring is lined with electrified ropes. A hit that sends it into them does heavy damage and stuns it, so aim your counters to push it across the ring rather than trading blows in the middle. When it swings its electric whips, sidestep; when it charges a cannon shot, keep moving so the blast misses and then close in.

Phase two: it takes to the air

In the second half, at about half its health, the Seized Construct grows two extra arms, fuses a rocket to its chest and flies above the ring, then charges back down. A cannon shot knocks it out of the air; if you dodge its charge instead, it is left stuck on the floor for a short window. Stay clear of the landing, block and counter as it returns to the ground, and keep driving it into the ropes until it falls. Devices drop from capsules during this phase, so open one and fuse it to your arms if you need more reach.

Rewards

Take the Heart Container and the Secret Stone

After the fight, take the Heart Container and approach the altar to receive Mineru’s Secret Stone. Mineru tells you about the Imprisoning War and the Master Sword, then joins you as the Sage of Spirit. Accepting her Vow lets you call her Construct in battle, and Trail of the Master Sword begins. Afterwards report to Purah at Lookout Landing that you have found the fifth sage.

Tips and troubleshooting

  • The Construct will not move: One of the four limbs is still missing. Check the Construct Factory and fit the remaining box.
  • The battery dies before the temple: Dismount and wait for the Energy Cell to refill, or keep walking; Mineru follows you.
  • The boss barely takes damage: Ordinary hits do little. Push it into the electrified ropes.
  • Fighting it without Mineru: If you go to Gloom’s Lair early, the boss gauntlet there makes you fight the Seized Construct on foot. It is much harder, and the gloom floor drains hearts quickly, so finish Guidance from Ages Past first. On foot you can only knock it into the fence with the final hit of a combo or a charge attack, so a one-handed weapon with charge attacks works best.
