Behind the dock’s rear cover, where the cables connect, there’s a hidden illustration featuring retro sprites of Link and Princess Zelda holding Triforce pieces. Two rows of hearts complete the design. It’s a fitting little discovery for hardware celebrating 40 years of a series built around finding secrets.

The artwork stays out of sight while the cover is attached, so owners will get their best look when setting up the dock. Once everything is connected and the panel goes back on, Link and Zelda are tucked away again.
For an anniversary console, the choice of pixel artwork feels right. The exterior gives Nintendo plenty of room for elaborate patterns and gold accents, while this smaller detail brings the celebration back to the series’ early days.
The Nintendo Switch 2 – The Legend of Zelda – 40th Anniversary Edition launches on October 29, 2026. Its design includes a black and gold dock with a prominent Triforce on the front, green and gold Joy-Con 2 controllers, and Zelda-inspired decorations across the back of the system and dock. Nintendo’s listing also confirms that a game is not included, something to keep in mind if you’re picking it up for your next trip to Hyrule.
