Medda hints that a secret waits at the spring on the mountain north of Hateno. Climb to the Spring of Wisdom on the summit of Mount Lanayru, shoot the Malice eyes off the corrupted dragon Naydra with arrows, then shoot it once more for a scale and drop that scale into the spring. Jitan Sa’mi Shrine rises behind the spring.

Starting the quest

Talk to Medda

Medda tends a garden in Hateno Village, behind the house directly across the road from the dye shop. Speak to him and he tells you of a hidden spring in the mountains to the north.

Reaching the Spring of Wisdom

Climb Mount Lanayru

The spring sits on the summit of Mount Lanayru, and the climb is bitterly cold. Wear cold-resistant gear or drink a cold-resistance elixir, and pack plenty of arrows. As you near the top you will see Naydra, a dragon coiled around the peak and covered in Malice.

Freeing Naydra

Shoot the eyes

Four glowing Malice eyes cling to Naydra. Shoot the first with an arrow; the dragon takes off and begins circling a new area. Aiming from the ground can work, but it is easier to glide close and use the slow-motion aim of a mid-air bow shot.

Use the updrafts around the mountain peaks to gain height and follow Naydra as it moves down the mountain, picking off the remaining eyes one at a time.

Take the scale to the spring

Shoot Naydra one more time and it drops a scale as it flies off. Pick up the scale and drop it into the water around the goddess statue to make an offering. The hidden Jitan Sa’mi Shrine appears.

Chests and rewards

  • Frostspear: chest in the shrine.
  • Spirit Orb: from the monk Jitan Sa’mi in the shrine.
