Kam Urog Shrine (Trial of Passage)

Kam Urog is a timing challenge inside a huge turning clockwork wheel. Ride its platforms and gears, dodge the spiked balls, pick up an Opal and a Soldier’s Spear on the way, and use Stasis whenever the timing is awkward to reach the monk at the top.

How to find it

The shrine is hidden until you complete The Cursed Statue. Talk to Calip in the hut near Fort Hateno to start the quest, then take the path up into the canyon on the left, which is full of statues. Visit at night and look for the statue whose eyes glow; shoot it with an arrow and the shrine rises.

Solution

Enter the wheel

From the entrance, walk down the slope into the structure. It turns constantly, dragging spiked balls and several platforms around with it. Stand clear of the spikes and wait until a platform swings close enough to climb onto.

Take the two chests

Stay on the large platform when it comes round and avoid the big spiked ball until it is nearly level, then run to its end and jump toward the opening back outside the wheel. There a chest holds an Opal. Turn around and wait for the small platforms to pass; one carries a small chest holding a Soldier’s Spear, so jump on and open it quickly.

Reach the central gear

From a platform, wait until it is horizontal and jump to the gear in the middle. Then wait for another platform on the opposite side to level out and jump to the gear that leads upward. If you struggle with the timing, freeze things with Stasis.

Climb to the monk

In the top section, wait for a shorter platform that forms a staircase to the summit. Stasis lets you hold the wheel still and run straight up. Speak to the monk Kam Urog to receive the Spirit Orb.

Chests and rewards

  • Opal: in the chest outside the wheel, reached by jumping from the end of the large platform.
  • Soldier’s Spear (tier set by difficulty scaling): in the small chest riding on one of the platforms.
  • Spirit Orb: from the monk at the top.
