Pumaag Nitae Shrine (A Minor Test of Strength)

Pumaag Nitae is a combat shrine. You fight a Guardian Scout II with a sword and shield and 375 health. Counter its slashes, hide behind pillars when it spins, glide above its laser and rush it at the end. The chest holds a Boomerang.

How to find it

Cross the Bridge of Hylia heading south and follow the road as it bends east. At a fork where a branch heads south, keep going east a short way; the shrine sits just off the path on your left among the trees of Faron Wood.

Solution

Counter the melee phase

Its shield blocks anything you throw while it is guarding, so strike when it swings. Dodge at the last instant to trigger a flurry rush. When it jumps back and spins with its sword out, stand behind a pillar so it hits stone and is dazed. Low-damage beams can be blocked with a shield.

Glide over the laser

In the second phase it plants itself and spins a laser, which creates wind. Run into the updraft, open the paraglider and strike down on it from above.

Rush the last phase

Near death it keeps its distance and charges a laser that fires three deadly beams; a pillar blocks only one. Close the gap and hit hard, and it falls quickly.

Collect the rewards

Open the chest for a Boomerang and speak to Monk Pumaag Nitae for the Spirit Orb.

Chests and rewards

  • Boomerang: in the chest behind the arena.
  • Spirit Orb: from Monk Pumaag Nitae.
