The Zol fan from A Curious Child has dreamed up a Zol nobody has ever seen: one that’s “cute AND flashy”. No real monster fits the bill. The answer is the Gizmol, the pink, plush, Zol-like automaton that Dampé builds for you. Show it to the boy and he hands over his treasure, a Piece of Heart. Once you have the Gizmol, it’s one of the quickest hearts in the game.
How to Start
Return to the boy on the walled lawn in Hyrule Castle Town. His floating marker reads “A Zol no one’s seen…” Talk to him: “Oh, it’s you again, miss princess lady! Hey, I’ve thought up a Zol no one’s ever seen before!” All the Zols you’ve shown him so far are really cute, but “There’s gotta be a Zol that’s really out there! I mean, like, cute AND flashy!” He asks you to show him an out-there Zol if you ever find one, and the An Out-There Zol banner appears.
Walkthrough
Step 1: Get the Gizmol from Dampé
No echo you can learn is “out there” enough; he wants something nobody has seen. That’s the Gizmol, an automaton built by Dampé at his studio in Eastern Hyrule Field. Pick “Performance artist!” in Dampé’s journal, show him a Zol echo, and bring him the prismatic music box, the prize for beating the 25-second goal on the middle course of the Flag Races at Hyrule Ranch. He builds it on the spot (“Ta-daaa! I’ve dubbed this one Gizmol.”). See Performance Artist! for the full walkthrough. Then warp back to Castle Town.
Step 2: Show him the Gizmol
Summon the Gizmol from your automatons right in front of the boy, then talk to him. “Whoooa! It sparkles… This one’s not even in my encyclopedia!” He asks where you found it, and he’s stunned to hear that a person made it (“You’re saying…a person made it?!”). He decides they must know even more about Zols than he does.
Reward
“Thanks a bunch, Princess. I’m gonna pay you back with my treasure! Take care of it, OK?” You get “You got a piece of heart! Collect four and your maximum number of hearts will increase.” He says that when he grows up he’ll study lots and lots about Zols (“I’ll make friends with Zols all over Hyrule and become a Zol expert!”), and Side Quest Complete: An Out-There Zol appears. Tips
- Finish Performance Artist! first. After that, this quest takes under a minute: warp near Castle Town, talk to the boy, summon the Gizmol and talk to him again.
- On the Flag Races middle course, beating the 20-second master time also pays out a Piece of Heart. If you’re fast, the music box trip can earn you two hearts’ worth of progress (see Minigames).
- Keep the Gizmol handy after the quest. It sings and dances, and its antics scatter groups of monsters (see Automatons).
