The Business Scrub and his siblings want to fill their Smoothie Shop menus, and you are their new recipe designer. Blend ingredient pairs you have never tried before: ten new recipes earn the Survey Scope, and after more new combinations the Business Scrub on Hebra Mountain upgrades it to the Survey Binoculars. There is nothing to fight; all you need is a good mix of ingredients and some rupees, and the reward makes it easier to gather ingredients for the rest of the game.
How to Start
At the Gerudo Desert oasis, talk to the Business Scrub at his stall: “Hey there! I’m a Business Scrub. Welcome to my branch of the Smoothie Shop.” He explains that you pick two ingredients and he blends them together. Choose Yes, please! and make your first smoothie (a Warm Pepper with Refreshing Grapes gives a warm mixed special). He adds the recipe to his menu, and that gives him an idea: “My siblings and I are new to the smoothie game”, and they are opening branches all over Hyrule, but “we haven’t had time to come up with new smoothie concepts.” “So what would you say to a joint venture? You make recipes—we handle the business side?” “Come up with 10 recipes out of ingredients from your travels.” Before you go he mentions that his siblings run Smoothie Shops in other places too (“give ’em my best”). The Recipes, Please! banner appears.
Walkthrough
Step 1: Make 10 new recipes
Talk to the scrub again and pick two ingredients. A pair you have never blended shows as ??? with “New Smoothie Combo” under it, so you always know which pairs count. Each smoothie costs 10 rupees plus the two ingredients. Use whatever you are carrying: Warm Peppers, Refreshing Grapes, Chilly Cactus, Electro Apples, Rocktatoes, Rock Salt, Fresh Milk, Floral Nectar, Radiant Butter and Monster Fangs. Some combos give a named drink such as a refreshing mixed smoothie, a sweet smoothie or a sweet refreshing smoothie. Others give an unfortunate smoothie, but they all count as new recipes.
Step 2: Collect the Survey Scope
After the tenth new recipe the scrub counts them off: “Two, four, six…ten! That’s it! You made all the recipes we asked for!” and “With that many items on the menu, every customer will find something to like!” As “your reward for helping expand the shop’s menu” you get “You got a survey scope!” Then he wants more: “What would you say to making 10—no, 20—20 more new recipes?!” “We’ll make it worth your while!” The quest stays open in your Adventure Log.
Step 3: Keep inventing at any Smoothie Shop
Keep blending new pairs wherever you find a Smoothie Shop as you travel: the Business Scrub’s siblings run stands in Jabul Waters, Hyrule Field, Eldin Volcano, Scrubton and elsewhere. The quest ends at the shop on Hebra Mountain. There a shivering Business Scrub in a snowy nook beside the rift came to Hebra “because I heard it had twisted pumpkins”. Give him a Twisted Pumpkin (“WOW! Never seen one in person before!”, “Ahh, it’s even more beautiful than I’d heard. What a stunner.”) and he opens his Smoothie Shop; this finishes Getting It Twisted.
Step 4: Finish the new recipes on Hebra Mountain
Make new combos at the Hebra stand. If he says you are carrying too many drinks, sell a few with I’d like to sell. first. A Golden Egg paired with something new makes golden smoothies, such as a golden piping-hot smoothie or a golden chilly smoothie. When the total is reached, the scrub cheers: “Good going! Another strong showing from our smoothie designer!” “With this many items on the menu, our customers will never run out of options!”
Reward
“By way of compensation, I’ll go ahead and upgrade that scope we gave you before.” “You got survey binoculars! These field glasses make smoothie ingredients and monster stones appear more often when you break objects or defeat monsters.” He jokes about promoting you to management, then decides “we don’t have any open positions at the moment”, and the Side Quest Complete banner appears. The Survey Scope (Material Appearance Up) becomes the Survey Binoculars (Material Appearance Up +) in the same accessory slot. All the recipes you have found are listed on the Smoothies page.
Tips
- The Survey Scope is an accessory, so it only works once you equip it on the Accessories screen.
- Bring plenty of different ingredients and spare rupees: each new pair costs 10 rupees, and the ??? label in the ingredient menu tells you before you pay whether a pair is new.
- Golden Eggs paired with other ingredients give new golden recipes, so save a few for the Hebra Mountain half of the quest.
- Selling surplus drinks back to the scrub frees up space and earns back some of the rupees.
