A self-styled genius in Scrubton has noticed that a monster always makes a sound just before it rains, and he wants to know which one. The answer is the Drippitune, a blue frog whose croak calls rain. If you already have its echo, this is one of the fastest side quests in the game: walk up, summon it next to him, and collect a stack of Electro Apples.

How to Start
In Scrubton, look for a raised stone platform with steps, a purple pot and a cobweb, where a scrub sits on a large leaf with a “Hmm…” bubble over his head. Talk to him: “Hmm… It’s gotta be connected…” He sizes you up (“Ever seen rain before, bumpkin?”), then explains that Faron Wetlands gets sunny days and rain, “what you might call a mix”. “But I noticed something—before the rain starts, a monster makes a sound!” He thinks that monster must be causing the rain, but doesn’t know what it is. He lets you help (“I was having trouble on my own anyway”) and gives you the job: “Go find the monster, and bring it my way!” His advice is to look in places where it’s raining; he’ll be waiting on his platform. The Rain-Making Monster side-quest banner appears.
Walkthrough
Step 1: Learn the Drippitune echo
You only need the monster’s echo, not the monster itself. Drippitunes are blue, frog-like monsters that croak with little musical notes and make it rain. You meet them soon after entering Faron Wetlands from the north, in a rainy clearing of square green ponds and tree stumps, where they hop around the ponds among other monsters and slimes. Defeat one and learn its echo. Its notebook entry confirms what the scrub suspects: its croaking song can call rain from a cloudless sky.
Step 2: Summon the Drippitune beside the scrub
Go back to the platform in Scrubton, open your echoes and summon the Drippitune right next to the researcher; the step just below his leaf mat works well. As soon as it starts croaking he shouts “Yep, that’s the sound I remember!” and “And look—it started raining!” Rain starts falling while he celebrates: “So that sound DOES cause the rain! This is a huge discovery. Maybe the biggest ever?” He then congratulates himself as “the genius who figured it out”.
Reward
Grudging to the end, he says “I…could have done it without you. But here’s a reward anyway!” and you see “You got 8 electro apples!” He wraps up with “Ha, a monster that makes it rain… My hunch was right!” and heads off to “go solve a math problem”, and the Side Quest Complete banner appears. Electro Apples are a smoothie ingredient: blended into a drink they give resistance to electricity (see Smoothies), and the scrub in The Mythical Deku Snake, also in Scrubton, wants three of them.
Tips
- You don’t have to lure a wild Drippitune to Scrubton. Summoning your own echo beside the scrub completes the quest on the spot.
- Pick up the Drippitune echo on your way in: the pond clearing where it lives is a short walk south of where you first enter Faron Wetlands.
- Hand three of the apples straight to the Deku Snake scrub in Scrubton to finish The Mythical Deku Snake.
