A Gerudo in Gerudo Town is convinced a ghost chased her through a sandstorm, because she saw a face in the tornado. The “ghost” is really a Tornando, the little whirlwind monster of the desert, so all you have to do is summon a Tornando echo in front of her. It is one of the quickest quests in the game, and if you already have the echo you can finish it the moment it starts.

How to Start

In the southern part of Gerudo Town, look for a Gerudo standing by a palm tree in a raised green planter, beside a lit brazier, with “Was I seeing things?” floating over her head. Talk to her. She opens with “OK, this might sound a little odd, but…do you believe in tornado ghosts?”, then explains that she got caught up in a sandstorm when a tornado came whirling at her, and she could swear she saw a face in it. She wonders whether she angered the spirits, and says that if she could see it again, she’d know for sure. The Tornado Ghost? side quest banner appears.

Walkthrough

Step 1: Get the Tornando echo

If you don’t have it yet, learn the Tornando echo. Tornandos are small green monsters wrapped in a white whirlwind that burst out of the sand to knock you backward. You meet several, together with Peahats, in the sandy battle room with a barred door inside the Gerudo Desert cave with the Wind Cannons. Defeat a Tornando there and you learn its echo: “You learned the Tornando echo!” (see the echo list and the Gerudo Desert walkthrough).

Step 2: Summon a Tornando in front of her

Go back to the Gerudo by the palm planter. Open your echoes, select Tornando, and summon it right next to her; no need to talk to her first. As soon as the whirlwind appears she panics: “G-g-ghost?!”. A moment later she takes a proper look: “Wait… It’s not a ghost or a tornado? It’s a monster? Called a Tornando?!”

Step 3: Let her work it out

Keep the echo out while she talks. She admits that, now she gets a closer look, it doesn’t even look like a ghost, and that it only chased her because it wanted to send her flying across the desert, so she didn’t anger any spirits after all. “I’ve…really been overthinking things…”, she says, and thanks you for helping her out.

Reward

She hands over the reward: “You got 10 containers of fresh milk!” She then wonders how she can call herself a Gerudo when she was spooked by something that wasn’t even a ghost, and worries about getting a talking-to if the chief finds out, before deciding that everyone is scared of something. The Side Quest Complete banner for Tornado Ghost? follows. Fresh milk boosts the healing effect of a drink by a lot, so it goes into the strongest healing smoothies.

Tips

  • The Tornando is the only thing the quest checks. Any time you have the echo, just walk up and summon it next to her.
  • Three other Gerudo Town requests are close by and take only a few minutes each: Gerudo Tag Training, Elusive Tumbleweeds, and later Beetle Ballyhoo.
  • Hold on to the fresh milk for healing smoothies rather than selling it; it is worth only 10 rupees at a shop.
