Death Mountain East Tunnel

Death Mountain East Tunnel is a lava tunnel on the north-eastern side of Death Mountain, near Momosik Shrine. A mine-cart track runs through it to an Igneo Talus holding the crystal for the shrine quest, and a Bubbulfrog that drops a Bubbul Gem hides along the way. Trade the gems to Koltin in The Hunt for Bubbul Gems!

How to find it

The entrance is at map coordinates 2767, 2778, a short way north-west of Momosik Shrine. It is sealed with blue sediment (blue-ish boulders) that you can smash with a blunt or rock weapon, a Bomb Flower, or Yunobo. Rocks near the entrance can be fused to a weapon to make a smasher. The lava makes the tunnel extremely hot, so wear Flame Guard gear or drink a Fireproof Elixir.

Inside the cave

Cross the lava on a fan cart

Defeat the Horriblin hanging inside, then find the mine cart and fan near the track. Fuse the fan to the cart with Ultrahand, set it on the rails, hop in and switch the fan on. Brightbloom Seeds and ore deposits are scattered along the way.

Defeat the Bubbulfrog

About halfway along the track, jump off the cart on the left side to find a room in the south-east part of the cave. The Bubbulfrog sits up on the wall; shoot it down and defeat it for a Bubbul Gem. Then climb back on the cart and ride to the end of the track.

Break the Igneo Talus crystal

At the end of the rails, a green crystal sits on a lava rock; approaching it wakes the Igneo Talus. Shoot an Ice Fruit arrow (or one with an Ice Chuchu fused) at its body to cool it, then climb up and strike the crystal until it falls, re-cooling it whenever the heat returns. Its thrown arm hits hard, so dash away. Put the crystal in the cart, ride back out and carry it to Momosik Shrine, which you must have examined first to start The Death Caldera Crystal. The crystal expands into the shrine entrance; the shrine has no puzzle, and its chest holds a Big Battery.
