In Zelda II, Link carries the mark of the Triforce on his hand, and he sets out to wake Princess Zelda from a sleep cast by a wizard. The only way to reach her is to restore the six crystals to the palace statues, open the Great Palace and claim the third piece of the Triforce, the Triforce of Courage.

The story opens in peaceful times. Link has the mark of the Triforce on the back of his left hand, and it pulls him toward adventure. Without a clear enemy to face, he wanders the forests, deserts and caves of Hyrule, sensing that a new and dangerous magic is moving through the land.

Zelda in the North Palace

Link finds Princess Zelda in the North Palace, lying still in an enchanted sleep. She had refused to reveal the secret of the Triforce to a wizard, and he cast the sleep on her before he died. Impa, Zelda’s nurse, explains that the Triforce of Courage is hidden in the Great Palace, and that Zelda can only be woken once all three parts of the Triforce are united.

The six crystals

Impa gives Link six crystals that act as keys to the seal on the Great Palace. Each crystal belongs in a statue after one of the six palaces is cleared. Once all six are placed, the way to the Great Palace opens.

The six palaces

The six palaces are spread across Hyrule. Each one is guarded by a boss, and each boss gives a crystal once you defeat it. The walkthrough covers them in the order the story takes you through them.

The Great Palace and the Triforce

At the Great Palace, Link faces Thunderbird, and once it falls, he has to face his own shadow. Once the shadow is beaten, Link has all three parts of the Triforce.

After the final battle

With the Triforce complete, Link returns to the North Palace and wakes Zelda. The game does not show what happens to Hyrule after that.
