Fusions available early

001 Hurdy-Gurdy Man

Walk through Hyrule Town after the Deepwood Shrine and the Hurdy-Gurdy Man approaches you by himself. Fuse your blue S-curve piece with him and a tree beside Link’s house in South Hyrule Field opens. Go inside the tree to claim a Piece of Heart.

002 Mayor Hagen

Mayor Hagen lives in the house north of the town square. The red long-teeth piece for this fusion lies on a ladder outside his house. Fuse it with him and the pool in the Lon Lon Ranch cow pasture drains, revealing a cave with the bigger wallet.

003 The Stranger

The Stranger waits in the yellow-roofed house at the western end of town. Fuse a red jagged-teeth piece with him and a warp tile appears beside Link’s house. Step on it, go north in the room upstairs and use the Gust Jar on the ghost hovering over the old man in bed. If you skip the ghost before you finish the Palace of Winds, Gregal no longer recovers and you lose the Light Arrows he hands over later.

Fusions that unlock later

023 Postman and 024 Candy

Once Vaati has taken over the throne, stand around the town square until the Postman runs past and fuse a blue squarish piece with him. The post office starts a newsletter and Marcy sells each issue for 200 Rupees. Candy waits on the second floor of the Happy Heart Inn, east side. Fuse another blue squarish piece with her and a platform appears in the Trilby Highlands.

045 Farore, 046 Bremor and the new house

After the Ocarina of Wind, Farore on the top floor of the inn takes a red long-teeth piece, which brings Gorman to the empty house. Once one of the three sisters has moved in, Bremor appears near the post office and takes a red jagged-teeth piece; the head carpenter then builds another house. Enter and leave a building a few times to trigger the change.

047 Zill, 048 Mama and 066 Librari

Zill (in the shops with the robot and ghost on the roof) takes a green square-tooth piece and puts a lilypad in the Castor Wilds. Mama at Mama’s Cafe takes a green triangle wedge and raises a platform at Lake Hylia next to a Mole Mitts cave. Librari at the library bookshelf takes a green slant and brings a Golden Octorok to the Wind Ruins. The library closes after the Four Sword is revived, but you can still fuse with him at Lake Hylia.

077 Din, 078 Nayru, 079 Farore and the Joy Butterflies

After the Royal Crypt, all three sisters at the inn have a fusion that brings a Joy Butterfly. Din (red hair, red long teeth) places one in the Wind Ruins for faster arrows; Nayru (blue hair, red triangle wedge) places one in the Royal Valley graveyard for faster swimming; Farore (green hair, red jagged teeth) places one in the Castor Wilds for faster digging.

093 Tina

After the Palace of Winds, fuse a green slant with Tina, the purple-haired teacher, and a chest with a red Kinstone piece appears in the Trilby Highlands.

Random-pool reward in town

Fusions 004 to 022 have no fixed partner. Among the first 22 fusions the game pairs your matching piece with random residents (mostly in Hyrule Town, the Minish Woods and Mount Crenel), so the person you fuse with can differ from file to file, but the reward is always the same. The table below lists only the ones whose reward sits in this area. Fusions 001 to 022 together need five green square-tooth pieces, seven green triangle wedges and five green slants; red and blue pieces come out of chests or from digging with the Mole Mitts.

#PieceWhat it opensReward

Residents can move away once you enter Dark Hyrule Castle, so finish this list before the last dungeon.
