Majora’s Mask Is Coming to Nintendo Music This Week

Termina’s music is getting an official streaming home. Nintendo has announced that music from The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask will join Nintendo Music on October 9 in Japan, with the release expected on Thursday, October 8, in North America because of the time difference. The addition is part of Nintendo’s ongoing Zelda 40th anniversary celebrations.

Nintendo Today Nintendo Music Majora's Mask

Nintendo’s announcement specifically mentions the main theme and music from various scenes throughout the adventure. It does not provide a complete track list or confirm how many songs will be included, so we’ll have to wait for the update to see exactly how much of Termina’s soundtrack makes the jump.

For a game so closely tied to the passage of time, its music does a remarkable amount of storytelling. Clock Town’s initially cheerful tune becomes increasingly frantic as the three-day cycle progresses. The Song of Healing gives some of Link’s encounters their quietest, saddest moments, while the approaching moon makes even familiar streets feel uncomfortable.

Those are the pieces we’re eager to revisit outside the game. Hearing Clock Town without having to keep one eye on the remaining hours should be a welcome change, although the final day’s music probably won’t make anyone feel particularly relaxed.

Nintendo Music is included with any Nintendo Switch Online membership, including the standard plan. You do not need the Expansion Pack to listen. The service supports compatible smartphones and tablets, and Nintendo also offers a browser version for listening on a computer. A Nintendo Account and an active membership are required.

The mobile app lets listeners download tracks for offline playback and build their own playlists. Certain songs also support extended playback, though Nintendo has not yet identified which Majora’s Mask tracks will offer that feature.

More Reasons to Return to Termina

The soundtrack announcement arrives alongside two other Majora’s Mask promotions. Nintendo Today! began distributing its Majora’s Mask collectible card pack on October 4, with one character card available each day. Collecting a card unlocks a quiz that can be attempted once that day. Correct answers award medals that can be exchanged for missed cards or wallpapers.

There are also Majora’s Mask profile icon elements available through Nintendo Switch Online. Their distribution ends on October 22 at 4:59 p.m. Pacific / 7:59 p.m. Eastern, giving fans a limited window to pick up their favorites.

Between the cards, icons and upcoming music release, there’s plenty for Majora’s Mask fans to collect this week. Our first stop when the soundtrack arrives? The Song of Healing.
