The student is feeling out of sorts, and conversations with his dad help him reconnect. Time with family and games becomes part of that process, with Ocarina of Time and Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream both appearing in the commercial. The spot continues Nintendo’s focus on the personal connections people build around its games.
There are only a few seconds of footage from each title. The story does most of the work, showing how games can offer something familiar to share when circumstances change. It is an approach that suits an adventure so many Zelda fans associate with growing up.
For players returning to Ocarina of Time, that connection is easy to understand. An adventure first experienced as a child can carry memories of the people who watched, helped with a dungeon, or passed over the controller. Putting the remake into a family story gives the commercial a little more weight than another quick montage of Link’s battles.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time launches exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026. For more on the remake, visit our Ocarina of Time hub.
