The Master Sword rests in the Korok Forest, deep in the Lost Woods. Follow the torches and wind to the entrance, then pull the sword at the Great Deku Tree’s pedestal once you have 13 hearts. It shows as broken when it runs out, then recharges.

The Lost Woods

From Woodland Tower

The Great Hyrule Forest is surrounded by water, and gliding or climbing in will send you back. Take the path northeast of Woodland Tower until fog appears and you reach a large ruined arch with a lit torch.

Follow the torches

From the first torch the route goes north twice, west twice, south and then west to two torches near an Ogre Tree with a chest in its mouth. Leaving the path returns you to the arch.

Follow the embers

Past the two torches, carry a lit torch: the direction the embers blow shows which way to move. Stop to check the embers and keep following them. You can also go southwest between two trees, then turn northwest toward the valley shown on your map. Between the high walls of the valley you enter the Korok Forest.

Pulling the sword

At the pedestal

In the grove the Great Deku Tree speaks to you. Trying to pull the sword drains hearts. With too few hearts, the first try is stopped before your last heart, but later tries can kill you.

You need 13 Heart Containers: the three you start with plus ten more. Trade 4 Spirit Orbs for each heart, or complete Divine Beasts, which each give a Heart Container. That is as many as 40 orbs with no Divine Beasts and as few as 24 with all four.

Using the Master Sword

Durability

It can be used anywhere but wears out against ordinary enemies, then recharges after several minutes. Near Ganon, his incarnations and corrupted Guardians it glows, does 60 damage instead of 30 and does not run out.
