The Crowned Beast

Kass’s song describes a beast wearing a crown of bone, which means a mountain buck. Sneak up behind one on Rabia Plain, mount it, and ride it onto the glowing pedestal beside Kass. Mezza Lo Shrine then rises from the ground.

Starting the quest

Hear the riddle

Find Kass, the accordion-playing Rito, on Rabia Plain. He sings an old song about a crowned beast that must be mounted on its throne before the shrine can be seen.

Solving the riddle

Mount a buck

Bucks are the antlered male deer that roam the plain. Raise your stealth as high as you can by wearing stealth armor, drinking a stealth elixir or eating stealth-boosting food, then creep up behind one and mount it. Freezing a buck with Stasis and running up beside it also lets you mount one.

Ride to the pedestal

Steer the buck onto the glowing platform near Kass. The pedestal reacts and Mezza Lo Shrine appears out of the ground.

Inside Mezza Lo Shrine

Ancient Trifecta

The trial uses Magnesis and Stasis. A switch on the slope near the entrance turns a pillar by 90 degrees, but a laser blocked by a metal block keeps it from triggering. Pull the block away with Magnesis, place it on the floor button in the caged area, then let the laser hit the switch, using Stasis on the beam as needed.

The pillar carries you to a platform with a chest containing a Thunderblade. Ride back, make sure the block holds the floor button down, and the door opens to Monk Mezza Lo for the Spirit Orb.

Chests and rewards

  • Thunderblade: chest on the platform reached by the pillar.
  • Spirit Orb: from the monk Mezza Lo.
