The Serpent’s Jaws

Quest typeShrine quest
GiverKass
Starts inPagos Woods, Lake Hylia region (map square F-8)
RequirementA bow and arrows; weapons for Lizalfos and a Moblin
RewardReveals Shae Katha Shrine (Shae Katha’s Blessing), a Spirit Orb

Kass sings of a shrine in the mouth of a great stone serpent. Make your way through the ruins and the dragon’s jaws to the Spring of Courage, shoot Farosh with an arrow to knock off a scale, and set that scale in the water at the statue’s feet so the door to Shae Katha Shrine opens.

Starting the quest

Speak to Kass

Kass is in Pagos Woods (map position near x 735, z 3095). Hear his song to receive the quest.

Into the dragon’s mouth

Clear the ruins

Follow the spring until you reach ruins where several Lizalfos fire Shock Arrows at you. Deal with what you can, then walk into the mouth of the giant stone dragon.

Pass the Moblin

A Moblin blocks the way in. Defeat it; there is a treasure chest just to the right before the path narrows. At the end of the path you reach a prayer statue at the Spring of Courage, and the quest asks for a Farosh‘s Scale.

Getting the scale

Shoot Farosh

The scale drops when an arrow lands on Farosh, the dragon that circles this region. A bright white object falls from its body onto the ground or into the water. Collect it.

Offer it to the statue

Put the Farosh’s Scale in the water at the feet of the statue. The door opens and leads to Shae Katha Shrine (map position x 870, z 2330, height 136).

Chests and rewards

  • A chest in the dragon’s mouth on the way in.
  • Shae Katha Shrine and its Spirit Orb.
  • Thunderspear: chest in Shae Katha Shrine.
