After you upgrade the Sheikah Sensor, Symin shows you how to use it with the Hyrule Compendium. Photograph a Sunshroom, set it as the sensor target, find three Sunshrooms near Retsam Forest and take them to him for three Hearty Truffles.
Starting the quest
Speak with Symin
With the sensor upgraded, talk to Symin in the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab. He asks for a photo of a Sunshroom for the Compendium.
Photograph a Sunshroom
A Sunshroom grows at the lab. Use the Sheikah Slate camera on it until its entry appears in the Compendium, then show Symin the picture.
Using the sensor
Set the target
Open the Hyrule Compendium, select the Sunshroom entry and choose to track it with the Sheikah Sensor. The sensor now pings when one is near.
Collect three
Head to Retsam Forest, just northeast of the village (map square I-7, at x 3853, z 2012), and follow the sensor to find Sunshrooms. Pick three.
Return
Give three Sunshrooms to Symin to receive three Hearty Truffles. He also lets you buy random Compendium pictures from then on.
