With the Fire Temple cleared, Link is back at Death Mountain Crater and can go after the extras he could not reach before. Hammer a path through the Crater cave, pay 200 rupees to the Great Fairy of Wisdom for doubled magic, then work down Death Mountain Trail past Biggoron, through Goron City and into Kakariko Village. Three Gold Skulltula tokens and two Business Scrub Seeds turn up on the way, and then you head for Zora River.

Death Mountain Crater cave

Leave the Bolero pedestal

You arrive on the red pedestal in Death Mountain Crater, and the Awakening the Five Sages quest update appears. Walk off the pedestal and cross the narrow stone bridge over the lava. A chained block hangs on the far wall at the end. Equip the Hookshot, fire it at the marker to reach the ledge, then switch back to the Megaton Hammer.

Smash the cracked boulders blocking the tunnel beyond. The cave opens into a rocky passage with a yellow flower pad on the floor. Stand on it to save. Keep the Hammer ready, because the next room is not empty.

Fight through the cave room

Two green lizard warriors with swords guard the dark chamber. Hold your shield up, wait for a swing to miss, then answer with sword combos. Back toward the open floor so you fight them one at a time. When the room is quiet, a glowing square appears on the floor and a chest rises on it.

Purple rupee

Open the chest and a purple rupee rises from it: “Vivid and purple, it’s worth 50 rupees. What a day!” Then follow the tunnel on and save again on the next flower pad.

Great Fairy Fountain of Wisdom

Find the fountain

Break the rocks in the last tunnel and walk into a pale blue hall. Smash the pots along the golden path to clear it, then step onto the Triforce crest at the foot of the fountain. Play Zelda’s Lullaby on the Ocarina. Mist pours out and a voice asks who disturbs its slumber.

Make the offering

The fairy wants an offering in exchange for her power: “why don’t you toss 200 rupees into the fountain?” Choose “Make an offering” and your rupees drop by 200. Arrive with at least 200, because every Great Fairy Fountain asks for one.

Double Magic

Light swells over the fountain and the Great Fairy of Wisdom rises in a crown of roses. She wraps Link in pink magic: “You got the gift of doubled magic!” Your magic meter now holds twice as much.

Before you leave, she tells you to find her sister near the Evil Desert Colossus, who will grant protection magic. You cannot get there yet. She also says that whenever you feel weary you can come back to her, and she will be there.

From the Crater to Death Mountain Trail

Hammer the boulders

Walk out of the fountain hall and climb past the red mesh gate, then hit the boulder in the cave beyond. Keep smashing the rocks that block each branch, and use the leaf pad that appears as a checkpoint. One Gossip Stone says there is a sword even more powerful than the giant’s knives that Medigoron makes. A chest next to the stone holds a Business Scrub Seed, which brings your seed count to 5. You chase the sword rumor in The Biggoron Sword Route.

A second Gossip Stone warns you to keep flames away from stones like it. Hammer on through the lava cave until daylight shows ahead and the Death Mountain Trail banner appears.

Meet Biggoron

Climb the net up to the ledge where a huge rock Goron sits with a hammer on his shoulder. Press A to talk to him. He introduces himself as Biggoron and says that, far as you have traveled, he is not taking orders right now. Nothing comes of it yet, so climb back down the net.

Gold Skulltulas and the Business Scrub Seed

Golden Skull Token

Gold Skulltula token #60

Night has fallen by the time you are back down. Past the net slope, a cave passage leads on, and a Gold Skulltula crawls on the rock wall. Strike it with the Hammer and pick up the token: “You’ve collected 60 tokens so far.” Navi adds, “That makes 60! Wowza!”

Business Scrub Seed

Business Scrub Seed

Keep heading down the path in the dark. Look for the large round boulder next to a wooden arrow sign and smash it with the Hammer to open a small cave with a chest. It holds a Business Scrub Seed, which brings your seed count to 6.

Golden Skull Token

Gold Skulltula token #61

Follow the dark tunnel toward Goron City. A yellow spider hides in the shadows on the cave wall. Hit it and the token drops, bringing you to 61.

Goron City and the Cursed Rich Man

Smash the rubble in Goron City

The Goron City banner shows and a Goron greets you with “Welcome back!” In the tunnels, smash the rubble with the Hammer and collect the green rupees that spill out. Behind one pile a chest holds a red rupee: “A lovely red color, this is worth 20 rupees.” Leave by the cave on the far side.

Visit the Cursed Rich Man

The cave brings you back out onto the trail, and you reach Kakariko Village after dark. Go inside the house where the giant spider lives and talk to the Cursed Rich Man. He says you have already slain 61 Gold Skulltulas and offers to repeat everything he knows about searching for Gold Skulltulas. There is no reward this time.

Zora River

Golden Skull Token

Gold Skulltula token #62

Leave Kakariko Village for Zora River. Cross the leaf pads, follow the cliff path past the iron gate and climb the rocky ledge above the water. If it is daytime, play the Sun’s Song to bring on night, since tokens only show after dark.

Equip the Hookshot and aim at the spider on the cliff face high above. Fire to take it down and pick up the token: “You’ve collected 62 tokens so far.”

On to Zora Domain

Take the stone stairs beyond the ledge to Zora Domain. The banner shows and the quest log adds Disaster in Zora Domain. The waterfalls have turned to ice.
