Beyond the Gerudo gate lies a sandstorm that only the Lenses of Truth can read. You learn a ghost’s path across the Mirage Desert, meet Sheik at the Evil Desert Colossus for the Requiem of Spirit, and clear five Gold Skulltulas, three Heart Pieces, the Biggest Quiver and Nayru’s Love before the Spirit Temple. The route runs between the desert, Gerudo Fortress and a quick child visit to the Colossus.

Table of Contents
Mirage Desert (crossing the sandstorm)
Enter the Mirage Desert and find the stone tablet
Step out of Gerudo Fortress onto the sand and the Mirage Desert banner appears. Visibility is almost nothing, so hold up the Lenses of Truth as you walk and aim for the ragged flags on tall poles. Follow them over the dunes until pillars and ruined walls rise out of the dust. A stone tablet stands among them. Press A to read it: it says those with eyes of truth will be guided to the Spirit Temple by a welcoming specter.

Gold Skulltula #86: underground ruin
Cross the ruin to the open pit and climb down the ladder into a red-lit stone room. Look high on the wall for the Gold Skulltula’s glow and lock the Longshot onto it. The token drops, and the game counts it as your 86th. Smashing the pots on the floor also turns up a few rupees.

Business Scrub Seed: the torch chest
Open the item menu, select the Fairy Bow and hold an arrow to the lit torch until it catches fire. Shoot the burning arrow into the unlit torch across the room and a chest appears on the raised floor. Open it for a Business Scrub Seed, which summons a Business Scrub (see Business Scrubs and Scrub Seeds). Climb the ladder back to the dunes.

Wake the Phantom Guide
Return to the tablet and read it again with the Lenses of Truth raised. A purple ghost with a lantern drifts out of the air and says you have got yourself some eyes of truth. It says the way to the Spirit Temple is winding and narrow, that you will not make it without a guide, and asks if you want to follow it. It also asks whether you have everything you need, so finish any errands before you answer.

Choose I’m ready now. The ghost warns that the path there is easy enough but getting back is not, then tells you to keep up. Keep the Lens up and stay close behind the Phantom Guide as it floats through the storm, calling out “This way, this way…” every few seconds. Monsters burst out of the sand along the route. Strike them as they appear and keep moving. At the end the ghost tells you to walk straight ahead. The storm breaks and the Evil Desert Colossus banner marks the far side.

Evil Desert Colossus (Requiem of Spirit)
Requiem of Spirit from Sheik
Walk across the red desert past the palm trees to the sandstone gateway. Sheik is waiting inside. He says Impa awakened as a sage because of you, then recites a legend of the Spirit Temple: those who follow the flow of time will be rejected, and those who transcend it will be accepted.

Play the Requiem of Spirit when the staff appears, copying Sheik’s notes on the Ocarina. You learn the song, which warps you to the Evil Desert Colossus whenever you play it, so you never have to cross the Mirage Desert again. Sheik vanishes, and Navi muses about what he meant. Then walk out into the open sand.

Gold Skulltula #87: cliff wall
Cross the wide sand beyond the sanctum and drift toward the high rock wall. Equip the Longshot from the item menu once night falls, find the Gold Skulltula glowing on the cliff and fire at it. Collect the token for your 87th.

A short trip as child to the Colossus
Walk on to the carved ledge and play the Prelude of Light to warp to the Temple of Time. Put the Master Sword back in its pedestal to become child, then leave the hall and play the Requiem of Spirit to return to the Colossus. The Gold Skulltula in the soft soil and the Magic Bean both need child Link, and both are in the same stone corner.

Gold Skulltula #88: soft soil and the bean
Walk the stone path beside the temple wall to the patch of soft soil in the corner. Use the bottle to release the bug into it, then cast Din’s Fire over the patch and take the Gold Skulltula token for your 88th. Then select the Magic Bean and plant it in the empty hole. A green sprout grows, which carries you later as an adult.

Play the Prelude of Light to return to the Temple of Time, climb the steps to the pedestal and draw the Master Sword to become adult again. Head out to Gerudo Valley, where the Master Craftsman at the bridge camp thanks you for getting his apprentices out of trouble.

Gerudo Fortress and the Horseback Archery range
Ride back to Gerudo Fortress
Mount Epona and ride the Gerudo road to the Gerudo Fortress banner. Leave the horse at the stairs near the gate. Go through the doorway at the top of the steps and climb the brick walls with A until you stand on a high terrace overlooking a walled yard.

Heart Piece #30: Scarecrow Song chest
Play the Scarecrow Song to call a scarecrow onto the far ledge. Aim the Longshot at it and fire to be pulled across. Walk to the chest, open it and collect Heart Piece #30. The text says collect two more to gain a heart.

Talk to the Horseback-Archery Attendant
Climb down, mount Epona and ride through the courtyard. A sign by the gate reads Gerudo Proving Grounds, Come forth, challengers! That trial waits for a later chapter. Ride to the red awning and talk to the Horseback-Archery Attendant. A round costs 30 rupees and gives you 20 arrows. The closer you are to the target, the more points you score, and the round ends when the arrows run out or you finish a lap.

Heart Piece #31: 750 points
Pay the 30 rupees, choose I want to try! and wait for Ready. Gallop along the fence, switch to the Fairy Bow, and shoot the targets as you pass. Score 750 points and the attendant, astonished, hands over Heart Piece #31. A strong lap can reach 1,520 points.

Biggest Quiver: 1,400 points
Clear 1,400 points and the attendant also gives you the Biggest Quiver, good for 50 arrows. With every prize taken, the attendant says she has nothing left to give and offers 50 rupees instead.

Evil Desert Colossus at night
Gold Skulltula #89: the archery range at night
Stay at the range, play Sun’s Song to turn the day to night and take out the Longshot. Aim at the target pole near the fence and the Gold Skulltula that now clings to it; the shot brings it down. Collect the token for your 89th, then mount up again.

Warp back to the Colossus
Dismount and play the Requiem of Spirit to warp to the Evil Desert Colossus. You land on the round warp pad. It is night, so the sprout planted as child has become a bean plant ready to ride.

Gold Skulltula #90: bean ride
Step on the leaf of the bean plant and let it carry you across the sand to a flat rock pillar. Aim the Longshot at the glow overhead and collect the 90th Gold Skulltula token from the rock top. Stay on the leaf.

Heart Piece #32: stone arch ride
Switch to the Fairy Bow and keep riding. The leaf takes you under a huge stone arch and over a red rock ridge to a ledge. Step off and take the Piece of Heart waiting there for Heart Piece #32. It is your fourth piece, so the game adds a full Heart Container and refills your hearts.

Nayru’s Love from the Great Fairy of Magic
Smash the cracked wall
Walk back through the palm oasis. A cracked red rock wall sits in the cliff beside the trees. Equip the Megaton Hammer and hit it until it falls apart, then walk down the sandy corridor beyond to the golden hall with the Triforce mark on its floor.

Nayru’s Love
Stand on the Triforce symbol and play Zelda’s Lullaby. The Great Fairy of Magic asks for an offering of 300 rupees; choose Make an offering. She grants Nayru’s Love, a barrier that guards you for a short time and drains the magic meter. She also says her sister near Ganondorf’s Castle will grant the ultimate defense, and she will heal you whenever you return.

Leave the desert
Walk out of the corridor into the desert and play the Prelude of Light to warp to the Temple of Time.
