Follow the Sheikah Slate

Quest typeMain quest
Given byA voice that speaks through the Sheikah Slate after you leave the Shrine of Resurrection
RegionGreat Plateau
ObjectiveGreat Plateau Tower (map position x -560, z 1695, height 267, map square E-6)
RewardThe Great Plateau map, a fast travel point and the Old Man‘s next task

The Sheikah Slate marks the Great Plateau Tower with a map point. Walk to it, put the slate on the pedestal in the rubble, ride the tower up to take in the view and download the map, then climb or drop down to find the Old Man waiting at the bottom.

How to find it

Open the map and look for the yellow marker on the north-east side of the Great Plateau. The route from the starting area leads across open grass and ruins. A few Bokoblins roam the way, so pick up a weapon before you go and take whatever they drop. Your first fight is small, and a branch, a torch or a stolen club is enough.

Solution

Reach the buried pedestal

The tower is hidden under a heap of brown boulders, with only the top of a pedestal sticking out. Walk up to it and make sure the nearby Bokoblins are dealt with first, because the tower will not wait for a fight.

Wake the tower

Put the Sheikah Slate on the pedestal. The ground shakes and the Great Plateau Tower rises out of the rubble, carrying you high into the air.

Take in the view

Once at the top, use the terminal to download the Great Plateau map. A voice speaks to Link about the Calamity and the fate of Hyrule, and the view shows the shrines and landmarks you can visit next. Every tower in Hyrule works the same way: it reveals one region’s map and becomes a fast travel point.

Climb down

Leave the tower by climbing down its sides carefully, or by dropping from one of the ring platforms to the next. At the bottom the Old Man arrives, and the next quest, The Isolated Plateau, begins when you speak with him.

Tips

  • Each tower reveals the map of its own region, so activate every one you see.
  • If you fall from the tower the drop is lethal at low hearts, so climb in short stretches.
