Find Princess Zelda is the first main quest of Tears of the Kingdom and takes you across the whole Great Sky Island. Walk north to the Temple of Time, finish The Closed Door, learn Recall, clear Nachoyah Shrine and trade four Lights of Blessing for the Heart Container that opens the temple’s last door.

How to start Find Princess Zelda

Leave the cave and talk to the Steward Construct standing on the plateau outside. It hands you the Purah Pad, and its map marker points north to the Temple of Time, the tall tower floating in the clouds.

Find Princess Zelda walkthrough

Walk north to the Temple of Time

Fight or sneak past the Soldier Constructs and pick up the weapons they drop. Stop at the Steward Construct beside the campfire to cook: roast apples or mushrooms over the flame for hearts to spare. Swim the pond below the temple and climb the long staircase on the far shore.

Examine the round door

A Soldier Construct patrols the courtyard, so beat it back and steal its weapon first. Then press your hand to the glowing door; this starts The Closed Door and pauses this quest.

Finish The Closed Door

Clear Ukouh Shrine, In-isa Shrine and Gutanbac Shrine to learn Ultrahand, Fuse and Ascend, then return and touch the door again. It opens onto the inner hall.

Take Recall

Walk up the hall to the altar and touch the golden light floating above it. Recall rewinds the movement of an object, and you can release it at any moment to stop it where you need it.

Ride the stone wheels up to the Goddess Statue

Behind the altar, two large rotating stone wheels carry platforms. Step on a platform, aim Recall at the wheel and hold it so the platform rides back up. Repeat on the second wheel to reach the upper hall and the Goddess Statue. Pray there to refill your hearts, then push the huge door behind it: it tests your life total, and three hearts are not enough.

Clear Nachoyah Shrine

Warp to the Room of Awakening and look to the left of the travel point for the rotating waterwheels. Recall the wheel to carry you up to the tunnel at the top of the room and follow the dark tunnels to Nachoyah Shrine. Recall is the whole puzzle there (see its solution). You now hold four Lights of Blessing.

Trade for a Heart Container

Return to the Temple of Time, ride the platforms back up and pray to the Goddess Statue. Offer four Lights of Blessing and choose Heart Container, giving you four hearts.

Open the last door and take the light

Pray first to refill your hearts, then hold the push button on the door until it opens. Walk on, then use Ascend from beneath the broken platforms to climb to the final altar and touch the orb of light. This ends the quest and starts To the Kingdom of Hyrule.

Rewards

The Purah Pad (map, Adventure Log, Camera later), the Recall ability and a Heart Container from the Goddess Statue. The three shrines of The Closed Door and Nachoyah Shrine each add a Light of Blessing.

Tips

  • Talk to every Steward Construct on the route; each explains a basic skill, from combat to cooking.
  • Stop Recall by releasing the button to place a moving platform exactly where you need to step.
  • Every shrine anywhere in the game gives one Light of Blessing; four buy a Heart Container or Stamina Vessel at a Goddess Statue.
